Hi Cliff, yep I did the @buzzbomb COP mod in 2019. The misfire started last year, and just to be sure I swapped the old coils in to test.
I am taking a clean slate approach, starting from scratch. I'm fairly sure that somewhere along the way I missed the issue during testing.
I love my...
Hi everyone. After getting over some family chaos (no illnesses thank God), I'm jumping back in to the forum.
In my absence, I've moved to Morris County NJ (from Bergen), traded the Subaru Legacy GT for a Mazda CX-30, and purchased a 2006 FJR 1300.
Still having the misfire on the FZ6 when...
See Gary's response. To put it simply, to trick the bike into thinking the sidestand is up, you need to connect the 2 wires are the sidestand switch together. When they are not connected, the bike thinks the stand is down. When you unplug the switch, it does nothing. Can you make a little...
Hey @Gary in NJ , @gnyce .... Do either of you have your OEM shock to send me the install depth? I am assuming that the bearing is centered in the eye and that the grease seals but against the bearing on each side.
Thanks
i am hoping you can get to your old shock. If you can, let me know the position of the lower bearing in the lower shock mount. The bearing is narrower than the shock, so I am guessing that it gets centered.
Thanks
Good news. I did find my original rear shock. I had removed the lower bearing, but I have brand new OEM Yamaha replacement parts still in their little bags. The bearing just needs to be pressed in, which can do if you need. Like @gnyce mine is also from an 05.
Wow, another name from the past. First Erci shows up, the Kerry resurfaces. Long time no see..... Hope things are going well.
Like Gary, I too went to the Ohlin's rear shock and I think I still have my original Yamaha shock. I recently moved and my garage is still in disarray, so I am not...
These motors fire the spark plugs in pairs, so 2 and 3 fire at the same time, so do 1 and 4. So swapping 2 and 3 should not have made a big difference. If you want to know more about that, look up 'waste spark'.
The 2 coils are identical, except for the length of the spark plug wires (I...
I learned a long time ago that there is a difference between a professional and a person with their name on a truck. The problem is that is is hard to tell one from the other at first.
Good deal on the washer. Motorcycling is dangerous enough without us taking additional risk.
Ride safely.
I have the schematic for the US version, and the sidestand switch is a blue wire with a green tracer coming out of the Starter interrupt cutoff relay. When that wire is grounded, the ECU thinks the sidestand is up. I would check continuity between the wire on the sidestand and the blue/green...
Take it from those of us who have seen this before. Lots of times before. You already got lucky with the sprocket, don't push it. The lock washer is seven bucks.
We have seen some of the damage, both mechanical and human, that a departing sprocket and chain can do.
