Maybe it's just Cleveland, but every time I look for something on Craigslist here it is way overpriced. People wanting to charge 4k for an ugly, molested 1990 FZR 1000. There's an 04 FZ6 on there with close to 50k miles and the guy is looking to get 3500 out of it.

Same goes for mountain bikes, rusty steel framed antiques are being hocked for 2-300 and it is pissing me off!

Anyway - rant over - I'm just noticing that people think their sh!t is worth a lot more than it is.

I quickly gave up on the Cleveland listings on Craigslist when looking for a motorcycle at the end of last year. Instead, I looked at the nearby area listings, including Ashtabula, Akron, and Youngstown. I ended up getting my 2004 FZ6 from Ashtabula.

Of course, you're also dealing with prices in the early-middle of the riding season, where they'll be higher. It won't be until September that you'll see some prices dropping.

That said, people on Craigslist tend to price high, because in most cases the motorcycles have already been sitting in their garages for months (if not years), so there's not a pressing need to get rid of them at a more reasonable price.

Yeah - I wound up getting my FZ last year from a guy in Green - off of Craigslist -

It was more of a general comment than current sticker shock - I don't even know why I've been spending time on Craigslist - roommate and I have 5 vehicles between the two of us - 3 bikes and 2 cars, so I'm definitely not in the market.

Cincy was about the same. I ended up picking mine up from a guy in Indiana for $3,600... 2008 with 9k miles. Has been dropped once, but it just broke the right turn signal on the front and cracked the tiny piece of plastic above the headlight. Needed a new battery. With everything, I've got about 4200 in it because I put some Michelin PR2s on it too.

I've been known to send "Craigslist Dreamers" an email including a link to the Book value of their vehicle/bike as well as links to others like it in the area for much less and then close my email with "Good luck with that" :Flip:
