    2-wheeled obsession

Nowhere to go but up. I looked into this solution, once upon a time. Figured it would cost almost $4000 once all is said and done, with shipping, installation, optional ramp, etc. http://www.loft-it.com/?page_id=10 Loft-It Video - YouTube

    Helmet Visor Tint Choice

    > what am i facing at night Be like Corey Hart and wear your sunglasses at night. Blah Dark is my vote. Due for a new helmet? Look into one with a built-in sun visor. Will probably be my next move as I can't wear contacts and will likely be required to wear glasses when driving after I...

    Tire change shop in OC/LA

Have MCSuperstore ship the tires directly to a shop in their Preferred Installer program if you find one you like: Motorcycle Superstore Preferred Installer Program

Test-driven: WRX, BRZ, Accord, Civic Si

 Cool. Long time Subaru driver, here. Do keep an eye on oil consumption -- seems to be a normal thing with their current gen engines that use thin 0W20 syn oil. My brother says it's typical for his Impreza to use a quart every 2000 miles. I just sunk a couple thousand bucks...

    What is this ?

See this thread: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-mods/50341-standard-aftermarket.html An adapter for heated gear or a battery maintainer, most likely. You'd have to trace the wires under the fuel tank or inner fairing to be sure. The blue stuff? No idea. For water proofing, perhaps.

    Battery (landport?) question

The original was GS-Yuasa GT12B-4 and the replacement many get is Yuasa YT12B-BS, so I'd think either of those Landports will work. (I've noticed that first letter varies by manufacturer. Probably not significant.)

    Maryland Motorcycle Laws Summary

Yeah, the way that law is written, earplugs seem to be banned which defies common sense. I was pleased to find this exception published by the MVA if it ever became an issue. I've always ridden with earplugs regardless. I'm near BWI. Haven't met up with any forum members. I've been a wuss...

Is it overheating or is it me?

Thanks for the reminder. The post is fixed. I had already done a purge of many old attachments back in March, but fell back into old habits. Stay cool!

    Maryland Motorcycle Laws Summary

Found this while clearing out some papers. It was handed out at my BRC class in 2010. Might come in useful here some day. Covers headphones, earplugs, illumination, exhausts, helmets, etc. Once upon a time I posted on this forum that noise protection earplugs weren't allowed in MD. I was...

Is it overheating or is it me?

For the record, here is data summarized from a chart in an S2 Owner's Manual. I'd assume the temperature ranges apply to the S1 model, too. From this, I'd say these engines are built to take more heat than we would normally think. Also, according to the S1 manual, the top segment of the...

    Yamaha Comfort Seat/FZ-1 Handlebars

I agree with your assessment of the comfort seat -- just a little better than stock. I find it sits a tiny bit higher, as well. (5'8" here.) One thing you might not have noticed yet is that its padding seems to retain heat from the sun for a long time. That's okay in cooler weather, but...

    DUAL lowbeam Vs. Highbeams on?

Adding the dual headlight mod won't change your idle speed. You have to turn a screw to make that happen. Some people change it as a personal preference. TownsendsFJR1300 mentioned that just in case yours was adjusted too low by the previous owner, I assume. The pic is just one I snagged off...

    DUAL lowbeam Vs. Highbeams on?

Yeah, 1250 RPM would be a 1/4 of the way from that first mark to the 2 on the tachometer. 1250-1350 RPM is Yamaha's specification for idle speed once it settles down shortly after starting. To amplify what others have said, the FZ6 doesn't have much generator power to spare, so as you add...
