Ok, so been busy, but a couple weeks back I pulled off my cat. Sealed up 1 end and filled it with vinegar. Nice mild cleaner. Let it sit overnight, blew it out, and put it back on. I'd say 75% of the stench is gone.
So, a dirty ass cat was the issue. So, now I guess I make a choice, get a...
I didn't do the ground wire, but I looked at the diag numbers. Any of these make sense? First number is the D number. Second is the value.

Ok, so I moved the radiator and pulled the battery so I could flex the tray enough to get wires out of the way. Got all 4 plugs out and I doubt running rich is my issue. 1,2,3,4 left to right in the pic. Very little on insulator while tip and thread surface is pretty nice. Oh and since I don't...
I ran across a base setting of 1 turn out and went with that, but even a quarter turn can make a big difference. In the end, all 4 cylinders were just about even at idle and 4k.
I've been reading around, as other bikes have this as a common issue. Some have noticed even fuel brand can make a...
Thanks! It just recently got washed, it doesn't happen often! The video isn't as sensitive as an ear is, unfortunately. The manual tensioner helped with some engine noise, but the idle is still slightly lumpy, but that could just be me being picky. It isn't as smooth as when I had my old cb750...
A plugchop tells the current state. If it's rich, it'll show, especially if it's really rich. Then there would be puffy black deposits. The insulator really tells a story.
Actually, not true. I've worked for years on carbed bikes, and it's the primary method for checking a/f, especially at high speeds. Just have to clean the plugs, which contrary to what many think, can be done. I grew up around old farmers and mechanics that use a lot of methods many no longer...
The vids were pretty large, so I put them on mediafire. The vid labels op temp, I didn't realize the wind was making that much noise, so it's kinda hard to hear. Wind wasn't that high, so it must have been hitting the mic just right. I was also wearing a helmet, which muffled me a bit. So, I...
Well, it is possible the bike is a CA bike, but not probable. There is no exhaust leak, as my legs no longer smell after replacing the 2 gaskets. It is most certainly an exhaust smell, not a fuel smell. And it doesn't just stick, it permeates, but it's all on my back. So, it's coming out of the...
Ok, so I am reviving my old post. Just haven;t had much time for the bike. I got some vacuum gauges, and made sure they were calibrated. Hooked them up and all 4 are just about identical at idle and 4k. Took the bike out for a couple minutes and back home since I don't have updated tags yet. A...
Well, c1 was -11 and c2 was 6. So I dropped c2 to 0. Plugs are cleaning up, the insulator is light tan. They were pretty rich, the thread ends are really black. So, I think, for now, I am leaving my settings, and will try a different air filter. Seeing as how it stinks so bad, it had to really...
