I'm located in eastern Iowa (Bettendorf, in the quad cities).
I love my bike, but I just don't get to ride anymore after moving to the midwest and having a kid. I maintain the FZ6 is the perfect bike for mountain twisties, but I probably don't have to convince the folks on this forum.
I'll try...
I'm confused, why would you mount 190s to this bike? You just pay more for your tires and make the handling worse . . .
I've run Bridgestone BT023, T 30/30 evo and the S21s. The 21s are nice and sticky, but I never had any trouble with the 30s or 30 evos and they did better in the rain and wet...
I live in your area now (Iowa City) and I have a few extra windscreens for the later models. If you're in the area look me up and you can swap for one you like better.
The 204 is recommended for the S2 models, the 303 for the S1. I think this is a carryover from a change on the R6 that made the 303 not have enough clearance somewhere, but the 303 should also fit on an S2 if you want to make it work.
You guys are waaaaay nicer to your brakes than I am. I get less than 10k out of a front set (EBC HH).
For checking, I find it's easiest to check the inside pad by looking from the opposite side of the wheel with a flashlight, you can see the outside pad easily enough. There's no wear indicator...

So on a recent several-day trip to northern California (heavily loaded) I noticed a grinding sound on a lot of tight corners. I kept pulling over to see what was touching (because it's not the pegs), and couldn't figure it out. My best guess was the sidestand, so I had been focusing on that as a...
Motion pro makes some eccentric throttle tubes with variable profiles. Eccentric tube with 150° turn instead of 180° might be goldilocks?
Several people have noted that flashing the ECU or using a fuel controller can smooth out the on/off response, but those options are $300+ each, which for me...
I'll be moving to the region in a month, although I don't know if 3-4 hours falls into your definition of "close by".
If you know of any good roads to the southwest of Chicago, clue me in.
