    Brake pads & Anti-seize ?

Posted this on "How To's" just looking for a little more exposure. Getting ready to change out brake pads for the first time. Question: Do I need to put any anti-seize / copper grease etc. on the back of the brake pads to reduce potential squeaking ??? Is this just for cars & not so much bikes...

    Which coolant ?

Thought I'd follow up to let you all know what I opt'd for. I put in the Evans coolant. Just a few points: The coolant is clear not green/blue tint. You'll need to flush with the "Evans" flush/prep to get all of the old H2O stuff out. 3 flushes did it for my '09. The Evans is thicker than...

    Which coolant ?

Much thanx to all . . the Evans coolant sounds very interesting. "Engine lifetime" is very appealing. :D

    Which coolant ?

Time for coolant/anti-freeze change. Need your input yet again. Sooooo, who's do you like in my '09 Fz ???? Don't want to start a war but , as usual, I'd appreciate any & all comments. I'm not a performance rider but Summer gets hot in Richmond, Va. Not like Texas or the surface of the Sun...

    Scorpion exhaust restrictor

You might just be right. I didn't actually measure it. Looking at the left can there seems to be a weld seam that might just actually be the "Y" pipe & not the can. I looked at the pipe before I did the install but don't recollect anything like that restrictor being there on the right side...

    Scorpion exhaust restrictor

No, the hole IS the washer / restrictor that I talked about. Look at the photo on the right. What you're seeing is looking into the silencer (can) from the exhaust end towards the front of the bike. On the left pic its a straight tunnel (i.e. open tube) with the gazillion tiny perforations...

    Scorpion exhaust restrictor

Per request, here's an inside view of my Scorpion exhaust showing the restrictor insert on the right & the clear through tunnel on the left. Scorpion distributor says that's how they even the exhaust flow between the two sides. FYI - This system was purchased in 2012. The system runs so cool...

Question about new Scorpion exhaust operating temp.

To all who replied THANX !!! I feel a lot better. I'll call Scorpion to see if I can get a factory explanation but I'm guessing the washer / doughnut is a type of permanent baffle / restrictor of some kind meant only to even the airflow between pipes (Mave2911). For Townsend : the removeable...

Question about new Scorpion exhaust operating temp.

Happy almost Spring to all. I've installed my X-mas present Scorpions on my '09 Fz & now have a question. The right can (as you look @ the back of the bike as its going away from you) runs MUCH cooler than the left can. After an hour of riding the left can is too hot to touch & hold but the...

    Question about Scorpion exhaust

Would like to know about anyone's experience with Scorpion exhaust slip on systems. I'm seriously considering one for my '09 Fz6. Could you describe how e-z/difficult the install was & how satisfied or not you are with the overall sound & bike performance. As always, thanx in advance for any...

    Removing FZ6 Graphic from fairing

I've readd the "how to" thread on removing stickers but would like some additional info from anyone who has removed the big FZ6 graphic from the fairing. Will a hair dryer be enough or is a heat gun mandatory ? Is there a better way ? Will the paint survive OK as the big graphic is peeled off...

    Stubby levers

As I continue to break in my '09 Fz, I've already decided on a few "early" mods. I'd like to get some suggestions on a set of stubby levers. I'm looking for good quality but affordable with a no brainer install. When you guys have time let me know what maker you like & the best place to get...

    Clutch woes .

My clutch seems to come on all at once at the end of the lever throw. Will it smooth out some & become a little more linear as time goes by or is it all on me to just man up & get used to it ? I see now where the idea of lever mods came from. My bike is a "New" '09 with less than 5oo miles...

    Grip opinions wanted

My '09 FZ is only 2 weeks old & already I want to make a change. I'd like to change the grips. The factory grips are just too bare bones for me. I like a little "squeeze" to my grips, not foam but just enough to take the road tension off. My past experience was with Progrips on my Hawk &...

Jus a quick "Hello" to all

Just picked up my new FZ6 today (3/23/11). I'm thrilled to have a "new" bike under me with modern technology. I've been the past 15 years on a much moded '89 Honda Hawk that was a lot of fun & much loved but I wanted a bike with longer legs & more room for my own legs. The additional HP of...
