All DIY brackets. And the fender eliminator looks like it blocks the plate but that is the angle that I took the picture at. From the rear and from 45deg overhead the plate is fully readable. I doubt the fuzz will bother me about it.
As far as the "BD43" mod goes I will look into it shortly. The PO did a number on the wiring in the front (nothing missing just cut and spliced) so I am going to fix that properly and probably shorten the wires even further as I do not think anyone will ever re-fair this thing...
With that...
Thanks for the information. I wouldn't have even thought of that! Looks like parts show up next week!
The PO had an airhorn on this bike that I may re-install. However, I am thinking about running a delay relay so that the regular horn goes off for ~1 second before the air horn kicks on. Or...
I picked up an 05 FZ6 for $700 with no front fairings and a crap ton of zip ties holding the headlight. Runs, shifts into all gears, needs a few things here and there, but overall not too bad. My goal is to keep the cost down on this project and daily this thing for a while. With that being said...
I wanted a V-Strom TBH but I couldn't pass up the price on the FZ6. Running for $700... Should fit my needs just fine but I will miss my dual sport a little bit when I get rid of it.
Exactly on the heat, it is miserable over 98F. I will look into heated gear and compare the cost. At the moment, pricing out what I would need for this bike it comes out to about $300-$350.
It is actually almost all city... Which sucks but ehh I live relatively close to work. I do use the bike a fair bit for errands that involve freeway driving though.
I have over 50k miles on "naked" motorcycles and maybe 1k miles or less on faired bikes. Mostly curious on peoples' opinions...
Not sure if my PMs are going through as they are not showing up in my sent folder... I am interested. If you want to try PM'ing me first that might work.
I have hunted around a bit and I have a few questions about going naked. The bike I picked up does not have any of the original fairings as it has been dropped a few times, however, I am not sold on going naked.
This is going to be my new commuter bike (currently on an old Suzuki "Dual...
$700... And it runs...
Been a bit abused and had a lot of "mods" and I am sure a fair share of drops. 54k miles. I bought it to replace my SP600 which is in too good of shape to continue to daily.
I just picked up an 05 FZ6 that will replace my current daily (1985 SP600).
I am going for fuel economy and general commuting stuff so I am not too worried about aesthetics and such. I will even consider buying damaged fairings.
Anyway, the parts that appear to be missing is the front fairing...
