I am getting ready to do my 1st compression test on my 05 and I thought it would be easier with a push-button starter. I've only used one on a car, where I energize the starter solenoid. Since we have no solenoid, I guess I could energize the starter's B+ lead, but that's going to draw a lot more current through the push-button. I think my switch has 12ga wire, good for 25 amps or so.

Anyone ever do this?

Yo big T! I believe your starter relay is right on top of the battery. If you attach a wire to Blue with white tracer wire on that relay you can activate the starter by bringing that wire to ground. No high current on that relay coil.

I’m not sure why you would need a remote starter at all. I assume you are doing this with the tank in place. The instrument doesn’t need to be viewed during the test if it has a hold button below the bezel. Just engage the starter and allow the engine to turn for about 5 seconds.
