Hi everyone.

My bike is missing one of the two head screws, the one on the upper steering bearing.

Maybe someone has one screw of those?

They are security torx.

Well, we don't know your year bike or specifically where that bolt is.

You can bring up the parts diagram for your bike and find the bolt here:

Hi.

Thanks for the reply.

Is not the ignition switch, is one of the bolts that are on the frame of the FZ6, and i think MT09 uses the same scews too.

Those are the screws that unite the two halves of the chasis/frame of the bike, is a security torx that unite the two halves at the steering.

I went out and looked at my bike. I replaced the bolts where the fairing support bracket attaches to the frame with button heads because those bolts are now exposed (naked bike) and I want them to look good (see photo with blue circles). The frame bolts as the same type as what you have. Those can be replaced with cap screws as Scott has provided a link. The OEM security torq bolts are used to ensure you can’t remove them. Did this vibrate itself loose?

Just looked at mine, which are original.

They are indeed safety torx bolts.

Their only security bolts to keep someone from dinking with them as there's NO REASON to touch them. (They hold the two frame halves together..)

My 07 frame, pic just taken:

Why Yamaha shows them as hex head (above links I posted), IDK. Cap bolts, using the above part #' is fine.

I think you are right, the dont even show on the schematics as they think that those bolts are not to be touched.

But... i lost one of mine and i have never touched them before, one of them was loose for about a month and i didn't have the security torx ratchhet, i never fastened, only a little bit with a screw until i got a torx wrench that i ordered from ebay.

But no the screw is lost!!

Today a saw a MT09 that has the same screws on the side...

I need those :(

Looking at the MT09 parts diagram (as well as the S1 and S2 parts diagram), seems their not available separately, but are "part" of the frame (buy the frame, get the bolts).

I'd simply go to the hardware store, find the metric bolt section.

I guesstimating it's a M10 x 1.25 pitch (or real close to it), length, dunno...
Start with that size/thread and find what screws into the frame correctly.
Find one that bottoms out, then get a shorter one (using all the threads).

That, ^^^, will work fine.

I'd stick with a cap bolt, put a SS flat washer under it. Some loctite if you'd like.

Thank everybody for taking the time to answer. In the end i found a broken chasis on ebay and bought it just to get the bolts.
