Custom saddle bag ammo boxes

Ill be starting a new project this winter. I plan to build a set of ammo box saddle bags for my bike and maybe make a custom rack for it while i am at it. Right now i would like some feed back on what type of metals people have used before.

I was thinking of using aluminum and do some fusion welding techniques to make the brackets so it stays light. Possibly stainless steel if i make it minamulist in design.

Ill be posting picks of the project when i get to it should be fun.

I made some over a year ago out of pelican cases.
Built a steel rack that bolts onto the bike and then bolted to pelican cases to them. Adventure bike guys come up to me all the time talking about how they love my cases.

Nice. I plane to use the deep 50cal boxes myself. But its cool to know of others who accompished the same. Its where i got my own insperation from. I was thinking of using the pelican cans as well. Would be interestes to know which ones you used.
