First I want to say hi to Cliff since I never responded to your last post (sorry about that!) and I know you will probably read this
Hope you and Lisa are doing wonderful!
As for this post now... I am preparing for the possibility that I need a new engine for my 2009 FZ6. Does anyone have an engine in good condition for sale, or are willing to part it out if I just need some parts? I live in NYC and will absolutely rent whatever size vehicle that would be needed and come drive to you and pick it up. My longest single day round trip was about 18 hours (I LOVE roadtrips) so as long as you are somewhere on the east side of US/Canada I can come get it myself.
The details:
I was riding along, heard some ratteling noises coming from the engine after a hardish acceleration (my first thought was a rod, not that I would actually know what that sounds like). I did a slight rev to make sure I wasnt actually hearing things, then immediatly shut off the bike, all within the span of probably about a minute. Oil looked exactly as expected (not brand new but fairly close, colorwise) no metal shavings, no large holes suddenly in the engine, physically everything looked the same. After trying to start the bike again it started to turn a little bit and then seized up. Subsequent attempts to start it and it sounded like it was completely seized up so thankfully I was close enough to push it the rest of the way home.
I just got done talking to the owner of the mechanic shop who does our ambulances at my job. I already knew that one of his mechanics has worked on motorcycles for years and he told me that another one has as well. Labor is not a concern now, so what worries me most is what the cost of an engine will be if I need one, so I want to figure that out before I tow my bike over there.
