Hello.
New Member from Houston Tx area.

Got my bike last year fairly cheap.

A little abused but fair. I think my head gasket blew, milky substance coming out of the oil dipstick, found a donor bike now going to swap the motor out!

And now we are here documenting my 2 hours between school and work trying to swap these motors.

Removed the front fairings because I'm thinking of making it into a street fighter, but that's another story in its self.

removed gas tank first. Disconnected at the fuel pump, gas hose connect gave me some trouble. Had to get creative with some pliers.

next removed the air box and battery. Air box was connected by three hoses and some clamps under the box.

then removed the exhaust system, headers up to the muffler connect.

started unhooking the harness and got stuck not sure what exactly would be connected and not.
Got the Shifter link unhooked as well as the clutch cable.

And I stopped. Need to unhook throttle cable to be ready to drop motor. Unless I've missed something. I'm no mechanic, any help with be appreciated.

Re the throttle cable, just loosen the adjuster(has a lock nut) on the left side of the engine, just inside the left frame rail.

Once loose, just adjust them in to the loosest potion and they pop off the bracket and hang free.

I would strongly suggest taking lots of pic's, LABEL harnesses, etc and write down where say harness #1 goes to, harness #s, etc(some detail for YOURSELF as that'll be the hardest part, putting parts back correctly.. Same for any hoses, etc.

BTW, welcome to the forum!!!

I have been number tagging everything and when I drop the motor and will hopefully match them.
