Hoping to sort out this issue,
Initially a none running bike. Side stand wiring issue sorted and ran. Produced intermittent failure on 1st and 4th cylinders.
Ran the on board diagnostics with two fault codes in history. 22 and 33.
Diagnostics test ok on 22 (Air intake sensor) history cleared.
Continuity from ECU to 1&4 coil primary 1 Ohm Dito 2&3
Resistance (primary coil) 2 Ohms same for 2&3 within specs.

History on ECU (prior to ownership) Yamaha Dealer replaced ECU and it failed again, circuit board exposed and repaired. No information as to which component failed.
New coils supposedly fitted at that point.

No point in replacing ECU yet if possibility of fault still existing.

Next step
testing remaining ignition cut out circuit
Tick over RPM? if it fires up on all 4 from cold.

Any one have the insulation value between primary and secondary coils?
The number 1 is still showing on display after history reset (63)

Additional
Started up on 2and3.
Spade connection to 1&4 coil poor fitting. Pays to give them a gentle squeeze and a good contact.
Fired up on all 4. intermittent misses. Re-set history.
Ran up to fan cut in temp. and no missing.
RPM fine.
Bike recovery insurance I think before it goes out.

Additional
Took it out around the block and it started missing as the temperature hit above 80degC.
Engine warning light, 33 again.
Got back, swapped coil positions and still same
ECU, but heat would indicate coils so do both and hope for the best.
Anyone out there with similar issues that were resolved please and thankyou's.

Additional
No.4 spark plug cap finally tested no continuity.
Removed the other 3 off the leads and around the 9.5kOhm. Within specs
Coils 14.53/14.77KOhms Within Specs
Waiting for new plug cap to arrive.

Additional
New Plug cap fitted, Bike ran fine but at +80degC cuts out completely but it does restart.

Additional.
Located a temperature sensor issue at the front of the bike (not plugged in!!)
Removed the spark plugs (not that concerned as they were only 12months old) The 4th cylinder had a CR8E fitted. So that tells me the previous owners Yamaha mechanic had guessed the plug and not the cap.
New set fitted.
Started it up and at least it didn't cut out totally at any point but has the occasional dip/missing. Sounds sweet all the way through to the red line.
Not able to take out on a decent run yet.
Usually faults don't make themselves better
With the ECU having been "repaired" I'll have to look at trying one out to see if it is the problem now.

Additional
A few minutes into a run and the engine warning light illuminated, with a loss of cylinders. Error code 33 returns. Reset.

:welcome: to the forum!
The ECU provides a ground path for firing the coil packs. You might want to switch the coil packs to see if the failure repeats on the known good coil pack.
Coils can be fun to diagnose because of high tension secondary breakdown do to temperature or other variable coefficients.

Thanks for the response. Seems to come in at temp rise, will try again tomorrow and see if it repeats itself.
