Hi, currently in the process of getting my fz6n back on the road after going a couple years unloved. I was thinking of spraying the frame white while I'm at it and wondering has anyone else done this that can tell me the best paint to use?

I've always been disappointed with the results of painting the frame of a motorcycle. Paint easily chips and flakes. But I've had great success with powder coating. If you are going to strip the bike down to the frame, then I suggest powder coating.

I was looking into powder coating but want to keep costs down, im really hoping to hear success stories from using spray paint but might be wishful thinking.

I think @TownsendsFJR1300 at one point mentioned a spray paint that was _close_ to the existing frame-color (silver), if you wanted to try to keep it the same.

The silver paint I use on my FJR helmet lock bracket(s) is Rust-oleum "7271 Siler Metallic" which is pretty much close to stock.

The below picture is my bracket (painted) on an FJR which I believe has the same color silver as the FZ:

Zombie thread resurrection, but I just used the 7271 metallic silver rust oleum paint on the radiator-side trim pieces. Have not put them on the bike yet, but they seem to be really 'disco' looking :) . For an old-time rock & roller this might be an issue.....

I used a spray can to paint my frame
Exact paint from yamaha
Samurai paint if its available in your country.

Y3* silver metallic
Matte clear to finish it off

Spilled gasoline does not affect the paint
