On the hunt for an S2 fz6.

I've been looking to purchase the s2 fazer and I'm wondering if anyone here was looking to sell theirs and live in the FL/South GA area. Preferred a red or black/grey one. These bikes fall in such a corner of adaptability it maybe the perfect bike.
Just been wanting a bike to commute a little on and maybe some tracktime thereafter. It's been hard finding any S2s and I'd prefer a little better suspension and brakes compared to the s1. But any advice on if it "truly" matters would be helpful as well.

Thanks all,

oxy

I’ve got an S1 that I’ve upgraded in nearly every way and it’s an outstanding bike. The suspension is mostly the same between S1/S2, and your best bet is to upgrade it either way. The front forks could use better springs that are matched to your weight, and then I’d highly recommend the Race Tech gold valve cartridge emulators. You can ship your forks to Race Tech and have them install the springs, emulators, and oil all at the same time. It’s truly transformative.

In the rear, that stock shock is terrible on both vintages. I’ve heard good things about Ohlins and a couple other brands, but I went with a custom Wilbers shock from Germany. With the upgraded forks and the new shock, it’s like a different bike. Absolutely planted on the road.

The brakes are one area where the S2 definitely got an upgrade; however, I can tell you that on the S1, replacing the hoses with stainless steel lines makes a big difference. Since I did that, I’ve never felt like the brakes were lacking. I can stop the bike with a single finger if need be.

Anyway, hope this helps. Any FZ6 is gonna be a great choice, as long as it’s not an FZ6R ;-)

thank you so much for your insight!
I know as I'm looking at bikes I'm really just becoming a spec sheet warrior because I want to keep my next bike for a long time.

I planned on swapping to the old r6 forks but I'm pretty light anyway so maybe a tuned suspension is better. I didn't even consider the rear shock being bad (I suppose because of my lightness I didn't worry about it lol) but I'll definitely start looking into that.

The fz6r broke my heart when I was first started my search, I thought it was almost perfect, then found out it was just a ninja 650 with a better soundtrack, on top of being heavier than the fz6!!

(unrelated but the gsx650f did the same, 550 pounds wet?? huh??)
