What I think is that they are trying to put a little structure to the process. By identifying a target, you can strive to make 2-4 the same as 1. If they allowed you to turn EVERYTHING, you would be there all day. As stated, the goal is to get them close to the same, assuming that #1 is not WAY out of spec. There is nothing magic about #1, it is just as likely to get out of spec as the others.Then why was I told NEVER to touch the first cylinder, and to adjust around it? Something about setting 1 to "factory spec"?
Not being snarky, just trying to clarify.
I believe (not 100% positive) a ball park setting is about 1 turn out from fully seated for #1.This seems cyclical, only hoping there may be some new faces... Also if someone (who said they could do it) monkeyed with cyl 1 while doing the previous synch, how would I find where it was from the factory?
