OK to leave cooling system dry for ~2 weeks?

Hi All,

I'm replacing a water-pump outlet pipe that was causing a moderate leak. I've drained and flushed the system once before dismantling the pipe to inspect the damage (yep, needs replacing - a small hole in the oil-cooler inlet section).

I've ordered the part but it will take ~1-2 weeks to get here - is it OK if if I just leave the system dry with hoses disconnected (covered the ends so insects/dust don't go in) for this long? Alternatively I could possibly do a patch-job on the damage and try to close the system and fill it with demoralised water until the part gets here, even if it's not 100% leak proof for now.

I'm worried that rust/corrosion may present in a system that is left empty - is this a reasonable concern?

Getting the flex hoses on and off the 3-pronged pipe is a pain - hence if I could avoid doing this unnecessarily that would be preferable.

Regards,
TOF

P.S. it's a 2005 FZ6N
