It's absurdly easy to get your motorcycle license in PA. Pay around $35, pass computer based permit test, create online profile for MSF class, signup for class, go to class, take test on last day, pass test, have license.

The MSF class is free and they provide the bikes. The instructors are highly trained and good people. Though you can ride with your permit (no night riding or two-up are the only restrictions), why not take the free class and get your license.

the MSF class is great. Just took it recently myself. No excuse not to take it, but certainly not in states where it is free (i'm assuming this is subsidized by the state?)

We get $0 subsidies here in MA - cost me $300! Still, well worth it.

Yes, a lot of state contributes to the cost of the class.

Here in Nevada, its actually $130, but the students only have to shell out $100. Every motorcycle that is registered in this state, has to pay a $6 motorcycle safety fee whenever they reregister their bike, which is every year. That $6 goes into offsetting the cost of the class, so it's kind of paying it forward.
