Hi Guys and Girls,
I'm having a bit of a mare. I've just discovered that my daughter's St Patrick's school parade has to be home made costume along the lines of Bio-diversity. The school participates in the Irish green schools program. I want to make her a dress out of refuse sacks (recycling theme). I need some help with ideas and style.

Thanks for the replies guys, here is what I came up with:
For this you will need.
sahaty7a.jpg

Bin bags, gaffer tape, scissors and coffee.
Inspiration from someone who did a great how to.

Some help

Start building add four inches to waistline measurement.

Cut the closed end off bags and puff them up, gather at one open end and lay on Gaffer tape.

First fitting

Oops how did that get in there....?

Second fitting add Bowes, I sewed the Bowes on for robustness and worked on using an odd number to make distribution even.

The under dress was made from a larger bin bag. Cut the bottom off to create a basic dress.

Add outer skirt and secure at the back with Gaffer tape. Accessorize with hat and wings and transform into the recycle fairy. Sew on Carnations.

Go to parade wearing three jumpers and two sets of tights. Enjoy the Parade and march with pride.

I have to say that the style and enthusiasm by my girls was brilliant. I am just starting nights and had no sleep but it was well worth it. Also very proud of James and Caitlin who marched with their newly formed beaver Scout group.

Last year we had hail and snow well worth wrapping up warm.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the "how to" Neil, maybe it should be made a sticky for the Ireland forum ;), looks great, and your daughter looks so sweet

Reminds me of the carnaval parades they have in the Netherlands, and parents are always running around making costumes for their kids, I had to make a knights helmet for the last one

Good Job man! And DAUGHTER!!!:thumbup:

You got me there! Thanks for the laugh!! :Flash:
PS - You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Nelly again. << Denied! :(

Thanks guys, I just wanted to share with my forum friends and family. Chloe won a medal for her costume at school today.
I'm delighted for her.
This thread also demonstrates that we are more than just a Yamaha Forum. A truly great international community.

Thanks for your posts, I've show Chloe and she is made up.
Thanks friends.
