Went for a day ride on Sunday. Together with a mate of mine we organised a days ride around Utrecht.
Leaving home the weather was great, blue skies and Sunshine but after riding the 40 minutes to the starting café in Abcoude we were shrouded in mist. Luckily during our half hour coffee break (whilst waiting for the others to arrive) the mist dispersed  The weather was amazing for November, dry and over 15 degrees celcius
We took this route around Utrecht.
We stopped at Schoonhoven to have a bite to eat in a restaurant next to the shuttle ferry:
Here you can see one of the old city gates in the background:
And here is the ferry in the background:
We rode along the "Lekdijk" an old dike with lots of great bends, until we reached Wijk bij Duurstede.
After this we took a route over the Utrecht ridge (utrechtse heuvelrug) through lots of wooded areas, in all their autumn colours.
We stopped in Soest for a coffee, after which we headed for Weesp and then back on the motorway for the ride home. An amazing days ride and the weather was great. The ride had been planned for the saturday but due to heavy rains we posponed it till the Sunday, which turned out to be a great plan
