Here's a thread to review B&B's, camp sites or hotels IN EUROPE where you have stayed whilst riding, please state the location (country/town/region) and try to write the positives and the negatives and try to give a rough price indication. A link to the website (if available ) would be handy as well.

I hope we might be able to help any fellow riders going on future trips

Re: Where I stayed with my bike.

Riding Europe is on my bucket list and having enough money to do so is on my wish list:rolleyes::D

Jerry

As well as with me. You members who live in Europe don't realize how great you have it. I actually like the europeon lifestyle and I have no need for a car and can rely on the trains or other forms of mass transit and my motorcycle of course!

I stayed here for 3 nights in June 2013. I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel, run by a (Dutch) motorbike rider, with motorbikes in mind. Secure parking, gate at top of drive is locked at night, and as hotel is only accessable via this route all other ways out are either via very steep sided valley or a gorge.

There are also motorbike "sheds" to shelter your bike.

IMG_0004.JPG

We went halfboard, the price includes a (good) 3 course meal and a continental breakfast.
Drying room in basement to dry any wet clothing.

A friendly hotel with clean and functional rooms, has a nice atmosphere. The owner speaks English, German, French and Dutch. Great place to meet other bike riders. The bar has a lot of motorbike memorabelia hanging on the wall. The reading table includes maps of area, to help plan your trip.

Both an advantage as a disadvantage is that it is out of town.

Quite old, but very clean and charming little hotel. They have a nice terras with cold beers (perfect after a day of riding) and it is near a big lake (Rurstausee, which means 'lake Rur') where you take a dive. You can eat dinner at the hotel's restaurant or there is an Italian restaurant nearby with excellent pizzas.

Accomodation costs 30 EUR per person per night, breakfast included, which is close to almost nothing.

Way cool. Vegas Rider and Lone Soldier and myself did something similar at the Oregon Caves. We stayed at the lodge there for two nights pretty cool.
Thanks,

Hostel Saint-Dié des Vosges

Stayed here in September 2011 for one night. Has everything and nothing more than what you expect of a hostel: rooms of 10-12 people (fortunately we were alone that day, so plenty of beds to choose from), no moto parking, cheap, dirty,...

Price was about 15-20 EUR per person per night, breakfast included.

This was my first 'big' trip and afterwards I decided to spend a little more for a 'decent' place to sleep. Our bikes were parked on the side of the road in a far-from-ideal area, so things could have turned out badly. I'm not specifically criticising this hostel, but I would recommend to spend the extra 15-20 EUR and find yourself a decent hotel where your bike is parked safe and a nice breakfast.

Kipps Hostel
Country: England
Region: Kent
Town: Canterbury
Website:Kipps Hostel

Hostel in the historic town of Canterbury, 5 minutes walk to the old city wall about 10 minutes to the city centre.
Good hostel accommodation, an international backpackers feel, our rooms had bunk beds. we stayed here for 2 nights in September 2011.
Large communal kitchen and living room.

Close to the city centre but the biggest drawback they only had 2 parking spaces in front of the house, when we arrived there was a space left, but not on the following day. The bikes were parked on the street (free parking).

IMG_2691.JPG

Would I do it again, yes but the biggest drawback was the parking, but it was cheap and close to town for a good night out

Here is the thread for the Kent sussex trip.

De Blauwput hostel.
Country: Belgium
Town: Leuven
Website:http://www.leuven-hostel.com/index_en.html

New building, clean and functional, I was in a 6 persons room, bunk beds a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet and a seperate toilet.
Situated behind the main station, but despite this remarkably quiet. A nice bar and also an open outside area in the middle of the building, nice to sit outside to enjoy out beer. You could also order a meal but as we were with a group this had already been organised for us.

The car park is compact gravel strengthened by a plastic under layer, be careful how you put your bike on the stand. The car park could be shut/locked on the street side but there is an access route via some steps (which is the way back from town).
10 minutes walk from the city centre, with lots of great bars is its main advantage together with a reasonable price. The main desk and bar is shut after 2300 but you can use your key card to enter via the side entrance after this time.

In the south east corner of the Netherlands you will find the motorbike friendly camping, B&B and bunkhouse In den Hof.
I stayed here in 2008 in the bunkhouse with a large group from my work. Great atmosphere, the bar has lots of motorbike stuff, including an old motorbike, and a beer pump made from an old engine. There is also a large outdoor cafe area surrounded by wind protection (opaque)
Some people stayed on the campsite, which was fenced. You are allowed to park your bike next to your tent or you can leave it next to the main building in the motorbike "sheds" (the main building is surrounded by a wrough iron fence which is locked at night).
This area of the Netherlands is really nice, and only a stones throw into the German eifel region or the Belgian ardennes.
It was also reasonably priced at € 22,75 for a bunk room and a good continental breakfast.

I've stayed here twice, both times for 2 nights. Once with a large group from my work and once with Andre (Unseen). The hostel is situated in the town centre of Trier, a beautiful old German town (at one time it was the capital of the roman empire).
The Hostel is clean and functional with communal bathrooms in the corridors. It is situated in an old building in the centre of Trier. I once stayed in a 4 persons room (with bunk beds) and another time in a single room. The last time I went in 2009 they didn't have any curtains, so you got wokken up by the daylight. There was a continental style breakfast.

Here's the trip report

The building surrounds a courtyard where you can park your bike, although the large gate isn't locked at night it is fairly secure being off road and only accessable via a large archway.
Looking at the website it seems to be under new management (since I went) so some things may have changed.
I would definately use this place again as you can walk around the old city in the evening, everything is within walking distance, close to great motorbike routes in Luxembourg and the Eifel region.

I stayed here a couple of years ago with a group from my work. It is a hostel and I stayed in a large (Bunk) room with over 10 people, the bathrooms were in the corridors. It's situated in the (lively) city of Groningen and is a short walk (5-10 mins) to the centre of town.
It is situated behind the frontage of an old city street, it is accessable via an alley from the main street, be careful your navigation will take you to the main street close to the alley.

cbk

There is a large bicycle area on the side of the hostel which we managed to get a lot of motorbikes (15+) in. Although it is not secured it is not on the main street and only accessable via the alley.

Country: Belgium
Region: Ardennes
Villatoile (camping)
(2km from Anseremme, 4km's from Dinant)
Website: Villatoile Pont ? Lesse Holiday Park

I camped here twice with my bike (my previous bike and the fazer) both times for 2 days, I’ve also been in the cage a couple of times (with kids). Stayed the Friday and Saturday night. beautiful location in the Ardennes, next to a river (the Lesse). It has 2 toilet/shower blocks, a small bakery/general shop, and a nice café, in an old farmhouse. It’s a great location for hiking, canoeing and cycling.
2Km’s away is the train station at Anseremme, where you can reserve (pay for) a canoe (different models 1 & 2 persons) and train trip. You take the train for 1 or 2 stops (dependant if you take the 21Km’s or the 12Km’s route) upstream and you pick up your canoe close to the station. You then paddle down stream. On the way there is a café along the river bank for refreshments. There are a couple of (easy) weirs nearing the end of the trip, both within walking distance of the campsite.
Here’s the canoe website

The campsite is not far from Dinant (about 4Km’s) which is a nice town on the river Maas (Meuse in French) with lots of cafés and a cable car to the fort on the hill.

Re: Where I stayed with my bike, Accommodation In Europe.

The places we stayed on this blast around Europe, hope it helps someone :)

Saturday 6th July - Zeltingen-Rachtig, Germany
Hotel Nicolay Zur Post
Really nice family run hotel on the Moselle River, good veggie option as the owners girlfriend is one. The normal food is tasty too!! :)
Secure garage parking for bikes.
Little bar under the hotel that the owner will try and get you smashed in.
Booking.com : Hotel Nicolay zur Post , Zeltingen-Rachtig, Germany - 102 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Sunday 7th July - 88690 Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, Germany
Sternen Hotel & Restaurant
Decent size room for a single, parking at the rear of the hotel out of sight.
Food very nice, perfectly boiled eggs for breakfast.
Booking.com : Sternen Hotel & Restaurant , Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, Germany - 148 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Monday 8th July - Glocknerstraße, Austria
Chalet Charlotte
This is a small English family run B&B, excellent rooms, real friendly owners. Off-street parking.
Only 5 rooms, we had them all :D
Perfect starting point to do Großglockner early morning as you'll about 20mins from the toll booth.
We eat at a restaurant (5min walk) owned by a Dutch bloke. Again good food!!
Breakfast was good.
Booking.com : Chalet Charlotte , Fusch an der Glocknerstraße, Austria - 73 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Tuesday 9th July - Coredo, Italy
Hotel Mirarvalle
Stayed here last year, would stay again. lovely place and area.
Excellent restaurant about 7mins away, owned by the hotel. Very well priced food and gorgeous waitresses ;)
Booking.com : Hotel Miravalle , Coredo, Italy - 46 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Wednesday 10th July - Cünter, Switzerland
Hotel Post
Stayed here last year, not much has changed... I think the joy of the town name is better than the place.
Decent rooms, pricey if you don't share but it is Switzerland. The food weren't that great this time IMO but edible.
Wouldn't stay again :/
http://www.booking.com/hotel/ch/post-****er1.en-gb.html

Thursday 11th July - Gersau, Switzerland
Paradieshotel Rotschuo
On the edge of Lake Lucerne and I mean edge, has it's own mooring and lakeside restaurant.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for here. Very nice, good food lovely location. A bit quiet if you want some nightlife action but if you're with you partner they'll love it.
Underground parking.
If money was good, I'd stay again, though the whole of Switzerland is very expensive!!!
Booking.com : Paradieshotel Rotschuo , Gersau, Switzerland - 150 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Friday 12th July - Black Forest, 72250 Freudenstadt, Germany
Hotel Hirsch
A complete difference from the night before, but a clean if a tad dated hotel. Really nice owner, allowed us to park the bikes in a garage.
Good food even though due to a few incidents some of us turned up late. they kept the chef on till we'd all eaten.
A perfect place to explore the roads around there, B500 to name one, but plenty of other awesome roads too!
It is in the middle on nowhere, so make you're own entertainment and phone reception is patchy.
They do have free WiFi though in the bar, which stays open till you leave :D
Would stay again due to location.

Booking.com : Hotel Hirsch , Freudenstadt, Germany - 97 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now!

Re: Where I stayed with my bike, Accommodation In Europe.

Here is a list of places I stayed during my trip on June to UK and Germany. I have excluded ferries here.

1st night in Sweden:

Cityvandrarhemmet
Järnvägsgatan 39, Helsingborg
Type: Hostel
Would I stay again: Yes

Quite ok for the price (37€) including a very basic breakfast. Clean rooms and toilets/showers. Parking hall place for bike cost extra (8€). Smallish, quiet room.

In UK:

Happy Days Guesthouse
56 Marshall Avenue Bridlington YO15 2DS, Bridlington
Type: Guesthouse (no breakfast)
Would I stay again: Yes

Nice, clean room. Friendly staff. Bike stayed in the front of the house. A few hundred meters to nearest breakfast restaurant and the sea. Cheap (24£)

Ramada Encore Newcastle-Gateshead
Hawks Road, Gateshead Quays, Newcastle upon Tyne
Type: Business hotel
Would I stay again: Yes

New, clean and comfortable business hotel with a very nice breakfast (which costs extra though). Short walk to Quayside and Gateshead Millennium bridge. Usually sort of expensive, I found a very nice price from Booking.com, 20£+10£ for the breakfast.

No 9 The Guest House Perth
Pitcullen Crescent, Perth
Type: B&B
Would I stay again: Yes

This was your usual nice B&B with tasty English breakfast + very friendly staff. 35£ for a double room. Parking for bike in front of the house.

Glen Mhor Hotel
Ness Bank, Inverness
Type: Hotel
Would I stay again: Yes

Lovely location along the Ness river. The hotel is located in 4 different houses with a possibility to request the room from a certain house. The bar had a great variety of whiskies :) Free wifi and parking. A great Scottish breakfast. Nice staff. A special mention goes to an extremely beautiful receptionist lady :D A bit expensive though for a longer trip, 53£ for a single room.

Kyle Hotel
Main Street, Kyle of Lochalsh

Helpful staff (tried to help to arrange me accommodation from Islay for next night). Lovely views to the sea and Kerrera island. Clean, comfortable room. Nice pub downstairs. Good breakfast. Price 42£.

Skerrols House
Skerrols House, Bridgend
Type: Luxury guest house
Would I stay again: Yes!

Expensive (110£) but this was the only available accommodation in Islay for that night. Apart from the location being quite far from the whisky distilleries, everything was just great! Extremely nice and helpful staff, a very large room and bed, amazing views, perhaps the best English/Scottish breakfast on the trip made to order + lots of berries and fruits too. I got a fresh can of coffee with cookies when I arrived. A drying room for hiking/biking/you name it gear.

Cornerhouse Guesthouse

Small but nice room. Friendly staff, they let me keep me bike in the small fenced backyard of the guest house. Nice breakfast made to order. 35£.

Prince Hotel

For the price (27.5£) this place was ok. Clean room, friendly staff, decent breakfast. Bike could be kept in CCTV:d front yard.

Hotel Jacquard

A nice hotel with a friendly staff who speak English. Good location, many restaurants nearby. There's some street noise though, fixed with earplugs. Clean rooms and facilities. Pretty basic breakfast. Price ~50€ with breakfast for a double room for single person. Wlan only worked at the lobby. Bike can be stored in a secure location free of charge.

Pension Sonnenwende
Hauptstraße 26, Reimerath
Type: B&B
Would I stay again: Definitely!

This is a very nice country house a few km's from Nürburgring. The staff is amazingly helpful and nice and can help you in German, Dutch and English. This was my second visit here and they even gave me the same large and comfortable room :) Price about 50€ per night for en-suite bathroom double room, single occupancy. Drinks can be bought from a refrigerator in very close to shop prices, eg. a ½l beer = 1.5€. Free inside parking for motorbike. This might very well be my favourite place of accommodation anywhere.

I stayed here with a Group on a Friday and Saturday night. Friday night we had a schnitzel, chips veggies and salad meal. Saturday & Sunday morning we had a good breakfast (mainly continental) with orange juice and fresh bread, on Sunday there was also scrambled egg and bacon pieces (fried together) as extra. The highlight was the Saturday night BBQ with lots of different sorts of meat, and salads and French bread mmmmm… There is a covered BBQ area so the weather doesn’t matter.

It had a nice bar with the walls painted like a wild west scene, The dining room had a woodland scene on the walls, and here and there in the house were wall paintings which really added atmosphere. The staff (a Dutch couple and family) were very friendly. There was a nice (new) covered area at the back with wooden seating with cushions, ideal when it rained. It also has a very large garage which housed about 30 motorbikes (tightly parked).

Not sure on the price as it was arranged with the club, but I’ll try and find out how much it all cost.

I liked the fact that when we got up coffee was always ready, although the actual breakfast didn’t start until 0730.

I stayed in the (bunk)house, in a 7 persons room with 6 people. A couple of draw backs in our room was that the bunkbeds creaked as did the floorboards, also there was no cupboard space so everyone was living out of their bags, it was a good job we had a spare bed in the room.

There is a camping area at the back, where some of the guys stayed.
The location is in the middle of nowhere, but the scenary is great (several walks leave this area) and the friendly bar staff made us feel very welcome. It also had pool and darts and free WiFi.
I would definitely come here again.

The campsites south of Split, Croatia. They all lie within a hundred meters from the beach and usually there are a few restaurants to go with them. These are relaxed, quiet places and relatively inexpensive, in comparison to the busy tourist spots you find in the cities or at the italian side.

Do you have any addresses so I can add them to the map , or maybe other places you stayed at during your "Eurotour"
