So basically my fz meter is completely blank except for the neutral light it just shows e on it but when I turn the bike on for a second everything on the meter comes so i doubt it's an issue with the screen
Any information about it appreciated

Welcome to our great forum!

Check the plugs that feed the instrument cluster (readout). The cluster uses a data line to it's internal CPU, that interprets data from the ECU (electronic control unit).

Have you tested to see if you have other indicator lights? For example, directional indicator, neutral safety light etc.

Yup, check for corrosion at the connector; specially if the bike lives outside. Sometimes just the action of disconnecting and reconnecting will restore the function, however I would suggest using contact cleaner and dielectric grease around the inner perimeter of the connector to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

Yea the neutral light is working fine

Hey so i tried spraying contact cleaner and that didn't work is it possible that it's an software issue instead of an hardware? Because when I turn the bike on everything on the bike's meter lights up including the engine temp fuel rpm etc but after a sec it just shows E

If the trouble isn’t the connector, then you likely have a component on the circuit board that has failed. Before you go down that road, remember that every harness has two connectors. Clean the connector at the ECU. I would also conduct a continuity test of the data line.

I tried cleaning the connector on the ecu side the e is still popping up I had also forgotten to mention that it shows e on the meter when the keys are out of the ignition could that be related somehow

There is one wire that supplies constant voltage to the display even when the key off. That wire is for clock backup.
The instrument cluster is likely damaged.
