Here's a removal that some of us take for granted, myself included, but while doing the head bearing bitty, I took additional pictures of the process that included removing the fairing on my 2007 FZ6. I find the pictures are good for referencing back when re-assembling or just plain referencing.
The removal begins after removing the windshield via 6 plastic Phillips type screws. The inner side fairings are removed via the 4mm hex screws, two on each side. Sorry, no pictures of that, I admittingly took that for granted.
Remove the four 4mm hex screws, two on each side holding in the inner fairing. The inner fairing can now be lifted out.
Next disconnect the wire harnesses on the inner left side of the main fairing. I hate these things and if you don't see how to disengage them, you'll cuss for a while. Anyway, here are some pics of the connectors for reference on disengaging.
Remove both side mirrors via a 10mm socket. There are two nuts for each mirror. When pulling them out, do not lose the metal sleeve that go between the mirror and the frame. In this picture, I accidentally place the upper spacer on the wrong side of the frame when I was re-assembling.
Next remove the four Phillips head screws holding the faring to the frame, two on each side.
