Update on the lights. I was out the other night and ran with them off and on for about 2 hours at highway speeds. I would estimate that I had them on about 50% of the time. No ill effects to report at this time.
Given that the only filament-based bulbs that I have left on my bike are...
Maybe we should hound them until they either:
a) make some
or
b) find out what else fits it (I fail to see an obvious reason that the FZ1 wouldn't work)
Nice pic! I didn't take any photos when I had the bike disassembled. That was where I made my first cuts.
I cut some off the other end of the y-pipe when I decided that .5" wasn't far enough. I also welded a plate into the middle of the y so that both mufflers get exhaust.
I was considering getting the Clear Alternatives LED tail light, but I was concerned about the visibility of the light in direct sunlight. I tried an LED bulb but returned it, it wasn't bright enough to be safe. Ended up getting a 6" oval 40 LED trailer light from a truck stop. I removed the...
I don't plan to run them for any extended period of time so it's not going to be an issue. More of a 'can you see me now?' kinda thing.
They don't. I think they look just fine, beauty being in the eye of the beholder and all.
Still have some torsional rigidity issues to work out with the brackets, but nothing that a few minutes with the welder can't fix. I'll take some more detailed pics once that's done.
Hanging off the bottom are Hella Supertone horns. 118dB @ 300Hz on one side and 500Hz on the other.
Thanks for the opinion. I'll be sure to not send you a set at Christmas. I have reasons for doing it the way that I did. Besides, wouldn't it be boring if all of our bikes looked exactly the same?
I choose function over form. Just wait until you see what else I come up with. I'm...
Ended up with this:
Going to try this for a bit, if I'm not happy with it I'm going to make some mirror mount brackets, or a mounting point farther forward. Right now it's the furthest forward point that has a solid mounting location without cutting and away from the body work.
The previous owner was a pawn shop, and the dude who had it before that only had it for a few months. This is my 3rd Yamaha (04 R6, 99 R6 before), I finally saw the light and abandoned 600-class sportbikes in favor of a platform much better suited to the type of riding I like to do.
Oh, and...
Just picked up a 2007 FZ6 for $2500, wonder if anyone on here might recognize it. It's red, but not the factory red, much more metallic. No decals, no emblems, M4 exhaust, speedohealer, -1 in the front, red reflective stripes on the rims, and painted-to-match rear fender (OEM style)...
