What would you change on the FZ6?

Footpegs a bit lower and forward, or adjustable pegs to achieve the same. Adjustable clutch lever (I know this is fixable with aftermarket levers but my Ninja 500 had such levers stock and I think the FZ6 should too). Better clutch engagement zone. Adjustable levers might help with...

    Another SV question

I looked at both bikes when I was shopping. I initially leaned toward the SV because it is cheaper and a bit lighter, but like trailblazer87 I found the SV riding position to be cramped (I'm 5'11"), pegs too high and far back. The FZ6 is much more comfortable for me and that made the decision...

    survey of first sevice cost

For "first service" at 600 mi, dealer quoted me $120 and charged $130. Didn't even provide an itemized list of what they did. Next nearest dealer is 50 mi away. From now on I will change my own oil.

Can you listen to music and ride?

I'm with Lucky on this. I don't want to be distracted.

    When Installing Pro Grips

I used Aqua Net hairspray on bicycle grips when I worked as a bike mechanic. One time I took a repaired bike for a test ride immediately after installing the grips. I was standing on the pedals, pushing hard when one the grips slipped off because the hairspray hadn't set up yet. The...

    Long or short jacket?

My mesh jacket for warm weather riding is short (Cortech GX Air). My heavier cold weather jacket is hip (3/4) length (Fieldsheer Hydro Tour). I think 3/4 length for warm weather is definitely too much. I find putting the liners in and out to be a pain. If you only have to do it a couple of...

    So what's your favorite beer?

Yeah, I've been in love with English ales since visiting there in '91. Never had a bad one. I haven't found Old Peculier on tap here in the US, but I can buy it bottled at lots of liquor stores, even out here in the sticks. I do like it at about 55-60 F which is "warm" only compared to the 35...

Do you wave to other riders??

I just about always wave (drop a hand) to sport bikers. With Harley/Cruiser riders I sometimes wait to see if they will at least look at me first, since they don't often do it. Around here it seems that about 15-20% of the H/Cs wave, 80-90% of the sport bikers. The worst are the OCGWs (Old...

    So what's your favorite beer?

Motorcycles and beer, two favorite subjects. 1. Old Peculier 2. Breckenridge Avalanche 3. Sam Adams Boston Lager #1 is from Yorkshire and at $10 a sixpack, not an every day choice.

Where do you get your gear?

Another vote for Motorcycle Superstore. Good selection and prices. Fast reliable delivery. Newenough is pretty good too.

    Any Mac users?

Same problem. Works with Netscape and Firefox. I'm afraid I let the "beta" tag scare me, so I haven't tried the Safari update yet.

    I LOVE my new boots!

Sidi B2. Great protection, comfortable, true to size, easy to get in and out of. The look is a little "Star Warsy" though. Fortunately my jeans fit over the boots, barely.

    Review your helmet.

Fulmer Review I have a Fulmer AFM Modus flip-up. Its quite nice for $170. Fits well, comfortable and the visor works well with 6 positions. Ventilation is OK and the black chrome paint job looks very cool, even though I wanted something brighter for conspicuity. I bought the one helmet in...

    Which ways your best??

Dropped Mine Too I dropped mine too doing a right u-turn! Only had the bike 3 weeks. I was using the clutch to control speed and must have stalled when I re-engaged it, slamming me to the ground. Won't try that clutch thing again. Bike damage was minimal. Tiny scratch on the bar end and...
