Looking where you want to go. I think this is the best advice EVER! Anytime I'm on an on ramp or off ramp and if I don't look where I want to go the turning sucks, but if I do i feel like a pro with a smooth turn.
And also braking, always use both brakes, unless in certain slow moving situations.
You can still register, and insure a bike with a lien on it, so I don't know why you need to keep it parked! every car I've had had a lien on it and had no problems with it. Also every bike as well!. The DMV in NY just gives you a hard time because the cops probably told them every bike that has...

Unless I know it's a long light and at least one car behind me and I need to do something with my left hand or my hand is tired. A combination of all of that, if not what's the use, stay in first and be ready to ride.
