I think the manual says every 4k, but you should double check that. I do it about two or three times a year and it seems to work fine.

That totally sucks! I hope that never happens to me. Cali_Rider taught me to fold my mirrors in as a reminder. When you hop on your bike and see your mirrors are out of place it should jog your memory.
