I think it's normal. I just changed chain and sprockets and spark plugs at 28k miles (45k km), and all were still in good shape. Original brake pads still fine.

Maybe you can also rent an open bike trailer (only $15), or a small covered one (just don't say you'll put a bike in there), and hook it up to the truck. It has all the hooks you need, and you can put some extra stuff in the trailer as well.

Another thing that I lately noticed, is that my bike rinse better (livelier) if I put brand name gas like Shell, BP, Mobile, etc. Over the no-name brands. Especially on a warmer weather (80+). Dono, maybe it's air/fuel mixture plays role... or just my impression....

I have airhawk 2 and use it for long rides. Sure better than stock seat. You need to learn what volume of air is good for you. Not to over or under inflate it. Got it for about 85$. I look at it as a temp solution. It adds to the seat hight and not waterproof. Sure an aftermarket seat...
