The clunking is normal with this gearbox, you'll get used to it. You can minimize it by preloading the shifter...put some pressure on it in your intended gear direction right before shifting.

Update: Looking at the specs, each boot provides 10kohm alone...so the way I'm measuring you would expect 20kohm at a minimum. 12-18kohm (spec) x 2 plug boots = 24-36kohm when measured in series. Both 1-4 and 2-3 measured 35K. And coils 1-4 of the replacement eBay coils were also 35K. So I...

Replacement ebay coils arrived. Am I measuring secondary resistance correctly? 1-4 on this set are also ~35kohm. Measuring from #1 inside boot terminal to #4 inside boot terminal. Regardless, will be returning this set…#2/3 measuring OPEN on secondary. :(

It does, you are correct… but should be bypassed when in neutral. Only applies when in gear.

Maybe invest in an ultrasonic cleaner? Less than $100 at Harbor Freight. I have no experience with their model, but the reviews seem positive.
