    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~
    That sounds like a lot of work. My '07 still doesn't have the miles yet! I got a 20 mile cold, wet and windy ride in and got the grips to work despite its display issues. It was nice not to have my hands go a bit numb, but I was getting blown around too much and could barely hear the bike...
    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~

    Hopefully your hands will be ok, but if not you could consider heated gloves. Then you could switch back to conventional grips of course. Some also add foam "grip puppies". I just checked on my Oxford controller and now the b*stard thing won't turn off heat mode proper except when it wants to...

    The Fizzer isn't a V-twin paint shaker so it shouldn't be vibrating significantly. If you're staying light on the bars and wearing decent gloves, check out this thread: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-technical/48874-vibration-cure-bad-vibrations-spark-plug-caps.html

    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~
    I've reinstalled a few times when trying out different handlebars and have gotten pretty good at grip removal. I just have the one OEM plastic throttle tube and only use a little superglue. The trick is to find a suitable bar or tube that matches the throttle to gently pound it off. Be sure to...
    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~

    Reinstalled my old Oxford heated grips to deal with the morning spring temps and found the controller is flakey. The heat works but the led stays on after turning off at the controller, so it appears on full heat when powered off. Apparently there's an upgrade v8 controller available that's...

    front suspension oil viscosity

    Good call on getting a supersport- the right tool for the job. Higher viscosity oil will firm up the front end by slowing the fork action down overall. It might help but you should first be looking to the springs and preload. The fork preload isn't easily adjustable on the FZ6- it's just a...

    New Member: Hello

    Cool, although I was encouraging you to post a pic :) You've got a mean first bike but you've done the research. At 6K RPMs and below, you have yourself a 250CC. Don't awaken the sleeping dragon that lies at 10-12K until you're ready. A well lubed, adjusted clutch and throttle cable tension...

    front suspension oil viscosity

    Springs are set for rider weight rather than oil. If the oil has broken down, you could refill with Hyperpro's recommended 15 to at least get performance back to when it was freshly installed. The hyperpro progressive spring upgrade does not change the budget suspension into anything remotely...

    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~
    Got the bike thoroughly filthy riding to the dealership in the wet to pick up a fork seal kit. Today I removed the bandage over its left fork leg and replaced the seal. Fingers crossed no more leakage.
    Could this be the holy grail of fork upgrade!!
    Cogent drop shipped to me directly from Ohlins USA. It was a genuine Ohlins YA-403 Shock type S46ER1 I don't have the spring rate handy but it was set for my weight by Ohlins including preload. It was direct replacement and I have not changed anything. I don't know the FJ-09. I recommend...
    Replaced my '06 engine with a '07. Feels good to be back on the road.
    The FZ8 was derided as a parts bin special and quickly discontinued. Having ridden it, it's a really friendly bike to ride. Over the FZ6 it has a broader power band, much lower redline, more torque down low, easier clutch. On the other hand, it's heavier, no extra power despite the extra...
    AGF is out of action for a bit
    Glad to hear the repair work went well and that you're out riding again! I hope your odometers have a great many more miles in them.
    Congrats on getting the bike fixed up! Check out and see if Yamaha has a "Demo Day" at a dealership near you. Costs nothing. No better way to learn what you might like.
    All suited up to ride today but nope. The battery quit abruptly despite being on a trickle charge. Replaced the battery with a new AGM from Autozone. First time changing the battery since buying the bike 6 years ago so it was due.
    Could this be the holy grail of fork upgrade!!
    The instructions included and posted here are accurate. Remove everything that they say to remove and reinstall everything that is shown. There will be a bunch of OEM fork guts left over. This includes the OEM bushing in "pic9". You're literally essentially emptying the forks of the cheapo...
    Thinking about a new touring oriented bike
    Test ride an FJR especially if you do any significant amount of riding 2 up. Even a new demo while considering an older model used one. The clutch with heavy flywheel and torque will feel on the opposite end of the spectrum to the FZ6. Easy and strong pull vs snatchy short pull. Don't be too...
    A rider waiting for an accident
    Yes, he doesn't help our image. He also had no gear other than helmet and gloves. Jeans, sneakers and hoody flapping about. Following my training keeps me out of trouble on the road. While watching him I wondered whether this guy took any or just doesn't care.
    Saying goodbye th my FZ6.
    Interesting first post. Good bit of riding for 6 months. I hope you're keeping some pics of your time together.
    A rider waiting for an accident
    I had an encounter with a rider on what looked like an older Suzuki Bandit today. Have you ever seen a rider just doing everything wrong? This guy was riding in the far right of the lane, myopically riding half a car length behind the vehicles in front. Every time he got a clear space...
