    Unable to order rear shock

I still have my original but it's from an '05 - not sure if they changed or not (guessing it's different) - as I found a Wilbers rear shock on CL and had them rebuild it for me (their authorized US dealer in NJ).

    Wind protection advice

'05 FZ6 here... I have the Givi windscreen. It's better than stock but it does NOT push the wind over my helmet. I'm 5'11 so a little taller but even so... Still, I found it an improvement. But you will still get insects, yes. I've no interest in the MRA, don't like the look visually, but I...

What brake pads do you use?

for me - IIRC, the biggest change for me wasn't the brake pads but instead, installing braided/stainless steel brake lines. I put CRG adjustable levers too, so the initial bite takes very little pull. Beyond that, if you want _more_ you'd need to look into a brake caliper upgrade, IMO.

Where to find headlight retaining clips

Holy old-thread-revival Batman.... there might be a winner in this Amazon entry (most seem a little big) - will know in a few days. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09F6LDMR8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details (1st picture, bottom-right clip - looks pretty close)

TBS - no value on Cyl # 4

I would guess more of a crack/leak then full blockage, but _only_ based on that fact that the needle was twitching _some_ and not completely still. So it wasn't "nothing" but certainly not anything that registered anything meaningful. Tight working spaces and cold garage but will see what else...

TBS - no value on Cyl # 4

Lubing clutch cable, adjusting headlights, and doing a throttle body sync, and not getting a value on Cyl 4, even with wildly adjusting the screw in either direction. I'm guessing this does not bode well, but - I dont' know what it is indicative _of_. I did swap hoses/dials between Cyl 3 and...

Not funny, but thought this would be of interest (I have not watched it yet, but will shortly). YouTube link: What I Learned Crossing the USA on my Yamaha FZ6

    Why!?

Buddy you might get more comments on _how_ it got that way, once ppl see it off the bike and not being used. Be safe and get it replaced asap, maybe circle back 'round after.

Change headlight to LED bulbs - will that damage rectifier/battery ??

I'm sorry to hear that has been your experience. That has not been the case for me - I've had LED bulbs in since Feb 2016 with no stator issues whatsoever.

    My Happy Place

I would _also_ have more room in my garage (for bikes) if I didn't keep trying to store cars in there....

Need Help Someone (poorly) welded a sprocket on this bike..

Huh... well sorry about that Scott. Guess you are just the ever-present voice in my ear or something. ;)

Need Help Someone (poorly) welded a sprocket on this bike..

Soooooooooo.... funny you bring this up. I discovered a few years back that my '87 FZR1000 has the same situation (but a much better weld, I'm pleased to say). To-date I have ignored it, since the front sprocket was still in decent enough shape that I didn't have to address it immediately, but...

    2005 vs 2006 vs 2007 FZ6

I have an '05. All things being equal (e.g. comparing bikes of similar mileage/shape), I'd pick the '07.... nicer instrument cluster, some add'l options on windscreens, nicer swingarm, etc. But _nothing_ wrong with '05/'06, and I have no reason to change from what I have.

    Bike Bandit

Interesting article - I had no idea (but not ordering much in the way of parts right now). I did look - and had ordered a battery from them back in 2020. https://jalopnik.com/motorcycle-parts-seller-bikebandit-has-stolen-646-000-1848823954

Newbie here, need ideas for a strong top case/luggage rack to support large dog carrier!

Gary I'm sure has more experience with dogs than I do - literally, we are on our 1st dog _ever_ so yeah, not the most informed opinion here. Yet, my dog does seemingly not hate motorcycles. I _will_ say that he doesn't like the lower-rumble of Harleys (and diesel picks with the loud pipes)...

Naked converted FZ6, how could I go about getting low and high beam functionality?

Definitely good ppl on this forum. But but but - holy cow look at the shine on those headers!

    What is that noise?

Conrods and cylinder block are at the machine shop as of last Friday. Estimating 2 weeks. What a fantastic shop floor that was.... tons of heavy machinery that do God knows what (they do industrial engines as well as cars, etc), and all really old stuff. Eyes wide, let me tell you. They seem...
