how long did your stock BT 020s last?

My rear bt020 lasted 12,000kays, and the front 18,000kays. I replaced them with Pilot Roads and have put 12,000 on the rear, and it still has plenty of tread. It is squared off tho...

    Fuel Range

Mine averaged around 280kays til reserve, then I got the new TPS put in (mine was recalled) and it seemed to improve to around 310-320kays. Even tho my TPS wasn't playing up, the bike does feel different (much better off/on transition!). Bike is dead standard. I must be a slow rider! LOL

    2Hose or not 2Hose?

Yeah, it's what virtually every country in the world outside america uses now. We're still waiting for you guys to catch up, but it's taking much longer than expected...lol

FZ6 Riders Show us your baby!!

This is my baby and me taken back in 2007 after a mate of mine got himself a new digital slr camera, and decided to take some shots of something moving, which at that time was me! The bike hasn't changed much, but I've replaced the pillion seat bag with a pair of panniers. I've mounted them...

    1st or Neutral????

Yeah definately stay in first gear. Doesn't matter if there's a bit of a wait til the green light comes up. Riders who can't hold the clutch in for that long must be lacking in manliness...LOL jk

    1000km Service

+1 Wolfman, I got my first service done at the local dealer, and wished I didn't. I forgot how much it cost, but they mucked around with the idle and had it ticking over at 900 revs. I went out and made my own throttle sync tool and got the job done right! All the servicing since has been...

Filtering - just got a fine

I've only ever tried this nifty technique once in Mildura last week, and it went well, but I was very cautious moving inbetween the car's mirrors. When the lights turned green I moved back into the lane, so it all went pretty well. I always thought it was legal in Vic but not in SA...but I...

    Oil change-crush washer

I replaced mine with a copper washer, as the aluminium washer needs replacing after reusing it a few times. I took it into a car parts shop and they found a copper washer the same size, and I've never had any leaks since!

    Shaved Seat

No unfortunately not. I've been really slack with the camera lately, as things have been busy. I didn't even get any shots when I paunted the windscreen! :spank:

    Air Induction system removal?

Something I remember hearing from watching Bathurst many years ago, all of the teams deliberately set the engines up to dump fuel into the engine on closed throttle to quench/remove heat from the combustion chambers. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but it would explain why most of the...

    Air Induction system removal?

Sorry to be controversial, but do you have any data to back that up? I understood that Cali had harsh smog laws way back in the 80s and possibly 70s, when production in Asia was much lower than today. Now Asian countries are using as much if not more oil/energy than the US, and it's not being...

    Shaved Seat

I have been working on this mod for the past week, in between work and other stuff. My main reason for doing it was that I hated the stock seat, as it was badly shaped, and would cut into my legs, and also the height meant I couldn't flat foot it. It made it tricky moving around on gravel...

    2009 R6/R1 Ugly Ugly Fugly

Ok I was a bit wrong there, I thought ours was the same as the R1, but using a standard crank with a 1,3,4,2 firing order. Turns out it's actually a 1,2,4,3 firing order. Doesn't matter that much, I won't be going out and buying an R1 any time soon, and my bike still sounds and feels the same...

Engine sound - related oil type?

Is it possible the "Yamaha Tick" could be caused by the air injection reed valves in the valve cover? The air injection system runs with the engine on idle, which is where many people have heard this tick... I've heard a few turboed bikes who's owners have disconnected the air injection, but...

    Swingarm maintenance Do It!!!

We only get a 1 year warranty in Aus, but they may have an extended warranty since I bought mine. Unfortunately my local Yamaha mechanics are monkeys, and they have a bad reputation for anything mechanical. Even though I'm entitled to a new TPS, I'd rather travel 200km to get it done in...

    2009 R6/R1 Ugly Ugly Fugly

Um, I've never heard of a four cylinder engine having a firing interval of 1,2,3,4. Just because the R1 uses a crossplane crankshaft doesn't mean the firing order changes. Just the rise and fall of pistons. Standard engines have firing orders of 1,3,4,2, with 180 degrees in between each...

Whats the coldest ride you've taken?

+1 That's about the limit of the weather here, and I rode home 30kays at 2am in minus 5 degrees. That was cold, but not as cold as most of the previous posts. Biggups and respect to those who ride (or have to ride) in ball shattering weather. Our weather here is on the opposite end of...

Did you drop it on the left or right?

My drop (one and only, touch wood!) was on the way home from my first long ride, leaving Narracoorte to the Riverland. I'd had problems with the Fazer's seat, despite using a lambswool cover (Go Sheepy Hollow!) the seat still turned to rock after the first 2 hours of riding. I endured...
