You can use the fairing stay, but like you said everything will stick out further than if you were to mount them to the forks. The Triumph is one that is mounted with a fairing stay like bracket, I think they pulled ot off pretty well.I guess it would really depend on what light you plan on using.

That's a shocker. I would think even if they did not sell them that they would know what they are, that's not a very good sales person when they don't know the product line.
