Not that silly - once the packing material is gone, it'll excessively heat the outer shell. On a steel/titanium exhaust you should be okay, the carbon ones though don't do too well with that, and sometimes you'll actually blow a hole in the side of your pipes.

Got any pics of that? glasspacks ftw. Cheap, free flowing, loud, light and low profile - only problem is they're a bit raspy. I feel like I'm on a riced out civic sometimes.

I like DanMoto - I can guarantee that those are loud. You'll probably need to repack them on a somewhat regular basis, but they're probably pretty good!

The messed up electronics were a special "UK only" feature. Yamaha figured that it would make you Brits feel more comfortable to ride something with an electronics system that performed like it was developed in england.
