Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

I repeated the measurement having a high temperature tape so all 4 surfaces have the same reflection characteristics. The temperatures seem closer now. Check the vid and tell me your opinion. I do have the sense of existing misfire even though I am not experienced at all on this, I am planning...

Well it fluctuates but I would estimate about 90°C

S2 Crank but no start. Low d09

Today i tried to track down the 1V drop from B+ to coil positive. I have 0.4V drop from B+ to red/white on the cutoff relay (0.25v of which is due to ignition key switch). Another 0.35 from red/white to red/black (kill switch). The rest is fuse contacts, cable loss, plugs. I tried to clean the...

Throttle Position Sensor Issues (Are you Experiencing Poor Idle/Mileage, or Stalls?)

Omg, this makes perfect sense but did not came up to my mind as two days ago I measured #4 quite cooler than the other 3 and freaked out, I was about to try swapping injectors, I will try polishing first, thank you for this useful info.

S2 Crank but no start. Low d09

All the spark tests i did in the past while the engine was refusing to start were on #4 due to accessibility ease. So i can't be sure if I had missing spark on other cylinders too.

    Need Help Yamaha FZ6N – D09 showing 18.6V + persistent fault code 46

Good luck with the results. Keep the seller's contact details, I hope I will not need him! Good price for a complete working set.

    Need Help Yamaha FZ6N – D09 showing 18.6V + persistent fault code 46

To me, it was obvious from the first post 😀 You ordered a used or new ecu ? Cost? What about the immobilizer?

    Need Help Yamaha FZ6N – D09 showing 18.6V + persistent fault code 46

https://share.gemini.google/yBNpnIBWckue AI assumptions are often wrong, especially when the prompt is not detailed, but do check the kill switch too, you don't have anything to loose. Voltage drop between red/white and red/black on the cutoff relay is a quick way. Measure also the igntion...

    Need Help Yamaha FZ6N – D09 showing 18.6V + persistent fault code 46

I edited my answer as you were replying, sorry. Yes you are right about the absence of real high voltage generation but then again we don't know how the ecu actually senses/ calculates it, perhaps with a comparator towards a reference zener or something.

    Need Help Yamaha FZ6N – D09 showing 18.6V + persistent fault code 46

So 1st time in the morning error appears d09 was fine engine worked fine. Later on next attempt error reappeared but d09 was 18v and engine malfunctioned, correct? I would connect a voltmeter permanently on the efi line instead of the battery to see the voltage the exact time the engine...

    Need Help Yamaha FZ6N – D09 showing 18.6V + persistent fault code 46

Ah my friend, I am having similar trouble as you are. I had the opposite symptom, low d09 and crank but no start intermittent situation. I be been checking various electrics exactly as you did. I understand you already know most of the following, but here it is: - don't rely on continuity...

S2 Crank but no start. Low d09

All caps were dismantled, cleaned and tested for continuity before fitting. Back screw, spring, resistor = exactly the resistor value, end brass terminal and spark plug contact = 0 ohms. Caps are ok, firmly screwed at the ht lead of which the inner strands were exposed, straightened and cleaned...

Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

Well I am having cylinder #4 running colder so I still have much to do/learn.

S2 Crank but no start. Low d09

I rechecked spark plug is torqued tight and replaced the cap with one of my old coils. Same result.

S2 Crank but no start. Low d09

I fitted a new battery. Voltage drop between battery positive and coil positive is 1V. It should be lower IMHO. I also replaced the spark plugs which I gapped at 0.6mm - 0.65mm. I also installed a set of used coils I ve got from ebay. I cleaned the caps interiors and made sure I have...

Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

I was wondering if there is a way to replace the HT cables with something better but I m not sure how they are attached to the coil side. I chickened out messing with it, I need the coils to try them (just got them from ebay) for my intermittent spark (and starting failure) issue am facing.

Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

One more thing, the dust cover on the cap has only one correct position determined by a protruding ring across the cap. When you slide the dust cover it clicks in the specific position.

Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

I removed the cap, sprayed contact cleaner at both ends and measured it at 10K. I I fitted a new spark plug to the cap and measured cap+ plug at infinite. Removed plug re fitted 5-6 times, the same result. Once I managed to measure 24kohms. I removed the inner parts of the cap using a 10mm flat...

Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

As I was reading the first posts I was trying to understand how the connection is made between HT cable and the cap. There is a reversed, wood type screw in the cap, with its nose pointing towards the cable. As you twist the cable clockwise the screw is ..screwed in the cable's center, touching...
