If you are not planning on riding in the rain, you can save yourself some money and go with PR2's. They are the same tire as PR3's without the extra siping (which only helps in wet conditions).
I have PR2's on mine and even in the rain, they feel very stable.
I was wearing a leather jacket, gloves, jeans with fleece underneath, and boots.
It happened so fast, I didn't really have time to get scared. I did have enough time to let out a choice word or two, but that was about it. I was worried mostly about the deer hitting my arm and causing me to...
Kept the bike up no problem-didn't even really hurt my knee. I possibly could have swerved to completely avoid hitting-but I've seen too many cases in cars where the choice was the deer or a telephone pole/tree. I'll take my chances with the deer, even on a bike, and I wanted the bike to be...
In the head, at about 50-60 mph, with my left knee.
Didn't touch the bike anywhere that I could tell.
I'm glad it was a doe!
All that was going through my head, was that I FINALLY got the bike to go straight -and I was about to wreck it on a $%$&ing deer-I never see them when I have a...
Well, I think this thing is finally set. New frame, forks, tires, steering head bearings, tightening them a few times, and the bike tracks straight, and the vibration is solved.
At least I learned some things along the way-guess I can just say that's the price of tuition.......
This one was helpful:
http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-mods/29543-r6-fork-install-another-one.html
And this one gives you part numbers from McMaster-Carr so you don't need custom axle spacers or custom brake shims...
Nice, Tom.
Actually, the straight problems are now fixed, so I think I am set. Also, the addition of the R6 forks seems to have improved on handling. Corner speeds that used to seem like they were pushing the limits feel much more controlled now. With the new frame, tires, and forks it feels...
Would my wife on a virago 250 be allowed to come? It is slow......but we went through bear mountain a few months ago for our anniversary trip, I'm sure she'd like to ride through there again.
What size tires do you have installed?
I am thinking maybe it is possible that they were changed from the stock size to something different, on either the front or the back.
Am I correct in assuming that the problem was there before the new tires, and continued in similar fashion with the...
I'm with Tom that it is simply the battery. Also, check the ground cable where it attaches to the motor-that cable will be mounted to "clean" aluminum, which could oxidize underneath the connector. If that happens, it will sort of make a connection, but won't allow all the current that it...
On another note, my brother in law, Tom, is purchasing a 2009 FZ6, I am going with him to pick it up tonight. Looking forward to having another member on the forum, and a family member with a fizzer, so far in general I really like the bike-I've logged almost 5000 miles on it this summer.
Update:
I recently finished a frame swap on the bike, and got new tires (the rear tire was showing cables).
The pulling problem is largely solved, but not gone completely yet. The measurements that showed the frame was bad are fixed, and measure correctly now, so I am confident that those...
Out of curiosity-would someone (preferably multiple someones) please put a level on their rear tire, and (with the front tire pointing straight ahead), put a level on the front tire-and see if you can find any noticeable difference? I have heard before that frames are never "perfectly" straight...
They tend to crack, not bend upon collision, but that doesn't mean that it never happens. They won't bend as far as steel will before cracking, but they still will bend.
I wouldn't be shocked if the front wheel was slightly bent as well, causing the shaking. However, the bike rides good enough...
I had a friend ride the bike yesterday (he doesn't own an fz6), and he said that if he hadn't known there was an issue-that he wouldn't have noticed anything was wrong. He was very impressed with the power (and, actually, the handling), and I don't think he even brought it north of 8K.
I am...
The forks were definitely previously replaced when the bike was rebuilt-and yes Finalimpact I believe you summed up the condition of the bike/frame accurately.
I contacted several places about getting the frame straightened-and no one would give me a quote (even approximate) without seeing...
LERecords - I am off work today and tomorrow, I can head up to glastonbury to meet you if you have a couple minutes, let me know.
My name is Jeff and my # is 860-367-four seven four four, call or text is fine.
I checked the forks by holding them against each other, and turning one fork at a time. No daylight between them, they are both straight.
I also forgot to mention-I tried turning the forks around 180 degrees, and installing them on the wrong side, with the tire facing the wrong direction. If...
I checked with a shop early on to figure out what to do. Motorsports nation in plainfield wanted around 150 to check the frame-which would only tell me if something is wrong. He said if the frame needed replacing and they do it, the inspection could be free. However, that would be several...
