Lake district & Yorkshire Dales, Tips

I'm from Harrogate originally which is known as the "Gateway to the Dales". It is packed with reasonably priced bed and breakfasts as well as decent hotels. The A59 will take you, via Skipton into the heart of The Dales where I can recommend a couple of days in Malham. There's a pub there (I...

In the Blink of an eye - SEE

I hate to criticize, but couldn't you have stopped for a few seconds if only to pass on your details as a witness?

    Too hot to ride?

You should complain. Height of 'Summer' here and I had to put a coat on to clean my bike.

    Brakes vibrating?

Is it a juddery feeling? If so it's most likely a warped disc. I have the same problem and I'm trying to work out whether to try and get a replacement myself or pay an arm and leg to my local dealer.

What's your lane choice and why?

This thread is very confusing for those of us who ride on the correct side of the road! :uk:

    Buying Used (part 2)

I'm assuming that things are different in the US, but here if you sold a bike which had outstanding finance on it, you would be committing an offence as it doesn't actually belong to you. Worse still, the buyer wouldn't own it either and technically the finance company could repossess the...

That's half of what we pay in Blighty. :(

    Petrol/Gas!

I see no reason why not. A couple of years ago prices here went up to just under £1 a litre before dropping down to 80 odd pence a few weeks later. My (limited) understanding of how the oil market works suggests this is absolutely nothing to do with existing stocks running short.

    Petrol/Gas!

Just paid 17 flaming quid to fill the bike from empty. A year ago I would struggle to get £12's worth in. When is it going to end? :(

    late 2003(04 model) power query?

Think the black engine came along in about 2005/2006. Others will confirm that I'm sure. I'm sure the differences between Series 1 and 2 FZ6's are cosmetic mainly. (The silver engines and wheel rims look better IMO but I am biased.) I lived in Norn Iron between 1997 and 2002. Was over there a...

    late 2003(04 model) power query?

Hmm, I lived in NI for a few years and had a mainland registered car. I had to get my tax when I came home to England as I couldn't do it over there without re-registering. I always quote it as a 2004 bike as it was actually registered in January 2004. I think the January registration numbers...

    late 2003(04 model) power query?

Someone's winding you up I think. I have a '53 (Reg Jan 2004) plate as well. I've certainly never heard of the original FZ6 being resticted. Here's a review from 2004 in which the HP is given as 98. BTW are you North or South of the border? How did you end up with a mainland UK registered...

    London Bus Lanes

Whilst not a big fan of cyclists, especially the ones who don't feel obliged to stop at red lights, I have a bit of sympathy with those who have signed that petition. As one cyclist says-Bus lanes currently keep cyclists away from the bulk of the traffic and make a lot of less confident...
