    Ignition coils

There is no alarm, just an immobiliser. The ignition barrel is the receiver and the key's are chipped, the ignition barrel sends the data to the ECU when you put the key in which then allows the bike to be started etc. Hence the new set of keys and barrel that came with my ECU. If it's the wrong...

    Ignition coils

After waiting weeks for an ECU to pop up on eBay, I managed to get one with all the locks and 3 keys for a reasonable price. I swapped the ecu over and plugged the new ignition barrel in yesterday, the result... My bike is back up and running on all 4 cylinders again. Thanks for all the...

    Ignition coils

There is only the FZ6 5VX model Ecu on there, mine is the 4S8 model. I can also get a used one for about £20 cheaper than those repair costs, but thanks.

    Ignition coils

When the motorcycle is first purchased, the ECU on the bike is in “a virgin state “. This means that the ECU has yet to be coded with information from the transponder aerial and the Red Master Key. When first starting the motorcycle with the Red Master key, a complex code is sent to the ECU and...

    Ignition coils

Right, I am going to have another nosey at it tomorrow if I can (depends what the weather decides to do) I'll test the wire again just to be double sure. And see what the outcome is. I did notice the other day when poking around that I can pull the ground wire out very easily coming from the...

    Ignition coils

But I have already checked that wiring by disconnecting the wire from both the coil and ECU and checking the resistance which showed 0-2ohms which means it completes a circuit etc, so it's not the wire. I don't understand how testing that wire again but in a different way would change the...

    Ignition coils

So I have narrowed it down to the ECU being the problem. The wire from the coil to the ECU shows between 0-2ohms of resistance which in my understanding means that the wire is fine. I inspected the outside of the wiring too, no rubbing marks or breaks anywhere. I then did a voltage drop test on...

    Ignition coils

Yes I have a multi-meter, I checked the wiring once, but I would like to check them again properly at the weekend to determine what the problem is before forking out lots of money for a new ECU which may not solve the issue. I'm assuming I would need to check voltage and resistance on the...

    Ignition coils

I'm not very knowledgeable at the electrical side of things as you can probably tell, but surely if the wire was the problem then wouldn't it be blowing the ignition fuse? The fuse blew when I first broke down whilst riding, the fuse blew again when I tried to start it before changing the...

    Ignition coils

Yeah, I checked the ground too, it was fine. Did all these checks a couple days ago, so I can't remember the exact figures, but i know there wasn't a problem with the wiring.

    Ignition coils

I have checked the wiring for that coil, the wiring showed continuity, so I don't think the wire is the issue. If I can find some similar gauge wire, I might try bypassing that wire just to double check but I have a feeling that when the old coil blew it possibly damaged the Ecu.

    Best sounding exhaust

Before I purchased my Delkevic exhausts, I did exactly the same and looked at videos of other exhausts on the FZ6. My favourite was my Delkevics, the Two Brothers came very close too but the price of the Delkevics sold it for me. I have heard other exhausts on FZ6's in person like the Leo Vince...

    Ignition coils

So I fitted the new(used) coil the other day, cylinders 1 and 4 are still not firing. I've swapped the coils over as well to double check the new coil wasn't faulty, it works fine. I have checked the wires going to the coil for 1 and 4, they seem fine. I've cleaned the connections on the ECU...

    Ignition coils

It's had an oil change just before winter and I'll be doing another very soo. I checked the spark plugs after this happened, the gaps were only off ever so slightly, by like 0.1/0.2, they seemed ok other than that. Since then I've changed the spark plugs and fitted a new/used coil for cylinders...

    Ignition coils

So I was on my way to work yesterday and after about 5 minutes or less of riding I suddenly lost cylinders 1 and 4, the whole bike then cut out about 20 feet after that which I think was due to the ignition fuse blowing. I got the bike home and took it all apart and started testing wires etc...

    Turn signal/hazards issue. HELP!

So I have figured out what the problem is, the new turn signals have 23W bulbs in them and the OEM ones are only 10W bulbs, which explains the issue. I have ordered some new 10W bulbs to fit the new turn signals, that should hopefully fix the problem. :)

    Turn signal/hazards issue. HELP!

The new indicators might be smaller bulbs, It doesn't specify on the site I got them from, they were cheap ones just to fix the previous issue I had. It is starting to sound like the relay is the issue. Will test the OEM relay at the weekend and find out for sure :) Thanks for the help!

    Turn signal/hazards issue. HELP!

Haha, thanks! I did have a quick look but i then started getting confused as to what connection I needed. Is the OEM relay a 2 pin wire to block thing then? (haven't looked at the bike yet)

    Turn signal/hazards issue. HELP!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, will take at look at the relay at the weekend. Does anyone know where I can get a new relay in the UK as mentioned above? The turn signals are not LED, they are just standard bulb type. :)
