Check out YouTube for drilling method. There's a couple of vids on there that demonstrate it well.

Most of the shavings will be blown out after you start the engine.
Personally I wouldn't drill it, as the muffler is then unsaleable as its not a standard pipe. I would sell it and put that money towards a new slip on set.

Mmmm, Tuono. I had an RSV1000, one of the first imported into Australia. It was an animal, probably the most impractical motor vehicle I have ever owned, and the most entertaining. The fit and finish was garbage, but the engineering was world super bike winning.
I would love a Tuono, but I...
If your multi meter does duty cycle you can check injector pulse reasonably easily. It needs a fairly consistent pulse rate to catch up, its the sort of thing you use on dyno, not really for no-start.
If you have an incandescent bulb type test lamp you can check the injector pulse by unplugging...
You know I did suggest that. My mrs. can drive a manual quite well and I think would not have any trouble with a cruiser of some kind, but she doesn't agree.
I found a nice XV1900 yesterday, it looks like a land barge, but should do the job nicely
An interesting choice that the TMAX is the most comfortable. I don't think I have ever seen one in Australia. I've come off a step through once and I think I would be scared to own one.
Pig?
I hadn't considered an FJR, they are police motorcycles over here, but I had looked at a R1200R. I think I will have the same issue as the FZ6 on an R1200R.
I was thinking of an un-offical poll type of thing.
My FZ6 more than satisfies my need for the twisties and getting my knee down, but thats just not enough. I have a lady in my life who wants to get on the back, however I have to say the FZ6 is not a particularly comfortable pew for a long...
Yes I would be looking for voltage drop across the earth circuit between the ECU and the battery. In my past I have had issues with vehicles returned from panel shops with weird running problems that stemmed from poor reference voltage being supplied to the ECU. One of them was over-fueling when...
Me too. There should be plenty of written off bikes with 2nd hand power commanders. The only used ones that have come up are close to the new price, I want cheap and dodgey.
Re: Snapped right side frame/motor mount
Welding alloy can usually be a success with experience and careful prep work. It would usually write off a bike of this age, as the cost of paying someone to strip the bike down to do the repair can be quite high. If you can do the R&R work yourself the...
Yes, I have tried it. The cost 5 years ago was outlandish, that was the main deterrent.
I was worried about using a cooling system in a very different way to its original design. I was also sceptical of the long term maintenance, if the Evans people were wrong, I have to replace most of the...
I know it's different, but a good example just the same. All the vehicles I look after at work run 50/50 Type A glycol anti-freeze anti-boil (non-organic). These engines have lots of mixed metal components and both corrosion and thermal shock is are serious problems. Fire truck engine are...
I would recommend any plug that is installed and maintained properly. Choice of brand is a personal preference thing, but motorcycle plugs generally narrow our choices down a bit.
In my earlier post I forgot to mention what I believed was the root cause premature spark plug failure in the...
NGK also deters you from sand blasting a precious metal plug. I've read somewhere it can encourage the tip to detach from the electrode. I'm not game enough to test their theory, as a plug failure could be a disaster. New plugs is cheap insurance.
You may be interested that I have experienced something similar with an EJ20T engine. It can in idling badly/rough/vibrating, however ran well at all other times. I had carried out all the maintenance to spec and believed the owners were not overly aggressive drivers. It turned out to not have...
Hi,
I priced up the standard fit Yuasa battery for my S1 FZ6 (YT12B-BS). Even my battery supplier said they were too expensive and he had never sold many (in Australia). My battery guy is chasing up an alternative, probably an AGM.
I would like to hear of any alternatives from other FZ6...
