There's a few tire sales right now and I was considering the Metzelers and Michelins.

Fitting the Michelins is easy peasy. The Metzelers -- not so much. Their website is rife with bugs and slow to load. It's also hard to find application guide or catalog PDF either. Finally, some of the parts have a letter designation that aren't obvious (e.g. M-spec and O-spec). These variants are also more prominent on online dealer sites than the generic numbers (e.g. 180/55-ZR17).

So I called Metzeler USA today and asked for firm part numbers for the Z8 Interact and ended up getting them AND those of the M5 sport tire:

Front

  • Metzeler Z8 Interact - 120/70-ZR17 M-spec
  • Metzeler M5 - 120/70-ZR17

Rear

  • Metzeler Z8 Interact - 180/55-ZR17 O-spec
  • Metzeler M5 - 180/55-ZR17 D-spec

Hope this is helpful for anyone shopping Metzelers. I was confused as hell looking at some sites today checking prices.

Cheers.

Thanks, I was looking at the Metzelers myself for my '07 (still has the original Bridgestones) and was confused with the M-spec & O-spec designations.

I swear by my Metzeler Z8 Interact tyres.

Excellent mileage, and fantastic grip in the wet and the dry.

Definitely the best rubber I've EVER put on a bike!

Cheers,
Rick
