Hi Guys and Gals
After reading Wolfman's thread,Is the FZ6 the best bike you have owned or ridden???.
I thought that's a hard question to answer as there has been many great bikes over the years, sure the Fz6 is truly a fantastic machine, but is really that good?
I am a bit of a bike whore, Ive been through many, I love all things bikes and change them all to regularly. I been riding and actively involved around motorcycles since I was 6 years old starting with a home made mini bike that my brothers and myself rode around the farm. That was "cough cough" 40 years ago.
So people,,, I don't know if this has been done before on this forum, but tell us a little about what got you into riding and run through the bikes you have owned and loved or hated.
I will get the ball rolling, and hey its not a pissing contest, but I think it will be interesting and enlighten you men folk about some of the opposite sex!!

1.Home made mini bike--- heaps of fun, played thunder-dome around our dam!
2. 1975 MR 50, All I can remember is I thought this thing was fast!
3. 1976-77 XR 75, Dam thing kept on breaking down, I thought it was ****.
4. XL 175, I think it was a 1982 model but not sure had a red tank.
5.83 XL 250 silver my first on road bike, not sure about the bike but loved the freedom.
6.RG 250 gamma, my first taste of a road bike and it was a 2 stroke screamer!
7. 86 VFR 750r wow what a bike that v4 engine with gear driven cams sure made a sweet sound out of my custom built megacycle 4-2-1 exhaust. It was a sweet ride as well. A contender for my favorite all time bike.
8.1987 RGV 250 my first and only track bike, bought it brand new and had some fun, proddy racing with the guys.
9. 1983 CB 1100F Boldor Yea I went backwards in years, but I saw the bike with the gold rims and just had to have it. got it cheap as well.

Had several years in the 90's without a bike, yea kids and stuff.

Moving on

10.1998 Bmw 1100r Silver, ya know I don't know why people go on about Bmw's as I don't think that much of them.

11. 2003 CBR 954 such a sweet bike and fast.
12.2005 Bolwell Scooter Le-grande 200 (175). Did I type that!
13. 2007. Bolwell Scooter 250 Firenze. ok I am ashamed now!
14. 2006 FZ6 YEA:cheer:
15. 2008. FZ6 :cheer::cheer: still got it!
16. 2010. Cbr 600rr, bought it crashed and had some fun rebuilding it.
17. 2009 Z750 naked, to cold and to wet, only had it a couple of months
18. 2008 Kwaka GTR 1400, Awesome bike, but ***k its heavy for me, I may sell it if anyone is interested MINT condition less than 10k, fully optioned.

So that's it people 18 bikes in cough cough:eek: years and I may have forgotten some.
Two bikes that really stand out to me are the Yamaha Fz6 and the Honda VFR 750, two incredible machines.

So get typing, tell us about your riding history.

Cheers
Mandy

1. Suzuki FR70 step thru "postie bike"....man did i flog that thing senseless!
2. Yamaha SR185....the Yamaha love affair begins...fantastic little bike, went round corners way better than it should of...bulletproof reliability!
3. Suzuki ER185.....Blew it up in 3 weeks, sold it for $150!
4. Honda VF400....awesome bike!
5. Yamaha Virago 750....Jap import into UK....reliable, but awful!
6. Yamaha V-Max.....the very first year model...crazy bike, went like stink, perfect for European Motorways, a real struggle in the tight stuff!
7. Suzuki GS400....great bike, very light, deceptively quick.
8. Honda VF500....just a little bit better again! Blew it up!
9. Ducati 500 Pantah....still got it! Awesome in the tight stuff, but awful to maintain...read expensive!
10. 2006 FZ6...Still morphing into one crazy arse bike!
11. 2007 FZ6 cup bike....now a touring mule!
12. TRX 850...in bits, blown up, awaiting re-build...new project!

Favourite...the FZ6's....2nd VF500!

I'm glad I'm not alone with the Honda V4 engined bikes!

Camchains were the only issue, but the 400 and 500, could both do a pretty decent job of keeping up with the RGV, TZR's, and KR 2 stroke 250's of that time....about 58hp by memory....sounded awesome with a set of Laser pipes on them.

Always liked the VF750, but never got round to buying one.

I still reckon the GPZ1000rx was the best bike I ever had, incredibly fast and stable and a great tourer as well, looked fantastic in black.

Yeah Mandy, the engine was great but heaps of little things kept breaking.Regulator/rectifier,3 batteries in four years, ignition and fuel pump to name a few.

Mind you,I got 70 000 k,s in four years out of it.
Compared to the RX, 10 years and well over 100k and the only things that happened was the ignition died at 50k and towards the end of its life the fuel tanks started to rust, this was a prob withe the RX's due to the position of the fuel tap, they fixed it on the ZX10.

The years are foggy but should be close:confused:

1.1964 [around] Honda 150 dream blow it up racing a 305 super hawk stayed with him till boooommmm

2. ???? Kawasaki 100 trail Rode that bike everywhere put on front of dads truck camper went from ind. up into Canada and across came down and rode all over the Tetons, yellow stone and back This was my main transportation all through school and I had the big bike around most others had Suki 80 and Honda 90

3. 1969 got a used Kawasaki 650cc w1 Car pulled out and I learned how to fly at 65 mph 1 week later. Two weeks later I was drafted and in the army.

4.1971 Made it out of Nam now at fort Benning GA. Got my recked 650 and boobed her.

5.1971 still fort Benning got new 250 Kawasaki trail bike

6.1974 got two recked and burned 350 Honda and made one trail bike got in to trail riding big time Now living in Alabama Trails are everywhere

7.A yamaha650 used fits in here some how but it was so long ago???

8.1975 Yamaha dt250 green used rode every day miles and miles [started riding enduros]

9.1976 Yamaha dt250 orange used rode every day miles and miles

10.1977 Suzuki pe175 a bike with travel YES

11.197? Kawasaki klx 250 tracker power but didn't handle will [new]

12.198? Yamaha IT 175 [new]

13.198? another Yamaha 650 junker

14.1988? Honda nighthawk 750 [new]
Diving for shell in the lakes of Alabama 6 hours a day for 9 years [one dangerous thing at a time]

15.199? IT 400 MEAN

16.2003 getting back in to bike wanted a Kawasaki 500 all I could afford ,but wife said she would ride it if I got a 250 [new] LOVED that bike beat me too death on Alabama side roads, but back in the saddle O yes!!!

17.2004 traded for a Kawasaki 750 naked road bike ???

18.2005 saw and fell in love with a 600 Katana man I loved that bike [8o miles an hour couldn't feel the speed] 100 might tuck in 135 NICESSSS I'm not getting any younger and it would be nice to keep my license ssssso a new bike is coming.

19. 2007 bought a new Kawasaki Vulcan 750 naked, v twin, drive shaft hydraulic valves, mag wheels

[Note] I've never roded a HD never wanted to, couldn't understand why they ride around at 55, 60 mph just didn't understand! Then with my Vulcan it all came together. The sound the feel of the V TWIN, it just feeelt good to go slower, don't misunderstand me ,for a crouser the 750 could move. Down low power but it could rev too.
Had to sell it when economy went bad. [food or bike you decide?]
2010 better times NEW BIKE!! look and look . One of the first bike that got my attention was the fz6 just looked right just felt right, but kept looking weestrum ninja 650r ,fz6r,looked at the new crousers BUT no way couldn't lean, loved the looks of the meanstreak, took it for a ride way to loud and heavy and I mean heavy, I need something I can throw around, and my back ain't getting any better

20.FZ6 is in the living room I wish it had the verummmm of the Vulcan but a drill out and pipes when I find some at a good price
