i didn't want to put gymkhana in the title, but it ended up that way...
we had a loosely organized skills course, with everything from a drz to a ape-hanged harley attend. put a goldwing down on it's crash guards (without crashing) and everyone made it though fine.
i rode:
my fz6
fz1
hd lowrider w ape hangers
goldwing
i learned:
goldwings aren't that hard to right again
springer front end harleys can be ridden very aggresively though the course
big guys on big beemers can really smooth through a tight course
my tires have more grip than i'll ever need
the course was basicly the advanced most course, just cones n such in a closed parking lot. to quote one of the guys on the other forum (local) "Its the most fun i've ever had in first gear!" and it really was.
lots of rear brake dragging, clutch slipping, and very tight turns. i have chicken strips on my new diablos of just less than 1/4" now. front and back.
we started riding the course at 10am, and were still thrashing bikes at 2pm. the lot actually had black tracks from all the rubber we left behind.
here's the bike count
fz6
fz1
drz
dr650
vstrom
beemer gs1200 (i think)
hd w ape hangers
hd road glide
hd not sure x3
gold wing
gold wing w side car
xr650r (distanzia clad)
gs500 (my first bike)
honda shadow
2x unknown hondas
the cleanest vfr800 in the universe (rode that one a few weeks ago)
and a few more cruisers that i couldn't identify
setup a course, ride it till you have some muscle memory, then ride it slower. what a freaking blast !
I'll link to some pictures and video later. we had 3-4 cameras rolling most of the time. should be some good footage !:rockon:
