Hi guys,

I have a modified fully adjustable 2003 R1 rear shock for FZ6 for sale if anyone is interested. This is an unfinished project. It was half way done when I found a penske shock for FZ6 and lost interest in this one. You can install it on your bike and ride it as is, but it MUST(!!!) be re-valved to work properly. No major modifications required on the bike, just a few very minor ones. This shock is a direct fit as a new FZ6's upper shock bushing is already pressed into it. Here is a link to the tread on this forum where all necessary changes are explained in details and step by step - https://www.600riders.com/threads/rear-shock-alternatives-how-to-install-r1-shock-w-pic.49392/

Again, it will work as is on your bike and you might not notice any issues, but you should not use it without re-valving by some suspension professionals even some riders on that tread saying they ride bikes with such modified shocks without re-valving. No matter your weight or riding style - it MUST be re-valved, period! The lowest setting on the modified original preload adjuster fits FZ6's click #4 and has 4 more clicks - 5,6,7,8 (8 is extra as FZ6 has only 7). It was enough to get the right sag for me (180lb) , but I include a brand new Race Tech preload adjuster with collar which has to be installed at the time of the re-valving as the shock must be fully disassembled for this change. This preload adjuster will give you infinite possibilities for your settings.

I am including a few pictures of this shock installed.

The spring is not included with this sale. You can use the original one from your bike. I can include R1's spring if you want it, but it is way too weak for our bikes as R1 uses linkage type of suspension vs. direct swingarm connection on FZ6. The disassemble/install spring process is quite simple. All you need is just 2 ratchet straps which most of you, I assume, have anyway. Here is a youtube video on how to do that -
