Hi everybody, this is one of my very first post after being a member for so long. I'm from Singapore and I own a FZ6-N for nearly 4 yrs nw. I have been contemplating on whether to mod my bike to improve the handling. As of now I use a hepco& becker junior side cases and a top case too. My wife also travels with me daily to work on my bike. I have found the handling very unsteady. :(

So I kinda neeeeed a lot of advice from all you pros.
1. Changing the stock pipes to after market to lighten the weight behind?
2. Change the stock rear sus to after market to have a stiffer rear?
3. Change the front fork internals to improve the handling and lessen the fork dive upon braking?

Please advise if the above mods are worthwhile and will tjey cause any problems in future. Also if u pros think if otjer mods will help pls input. Thank you.

Ps: I know the best mod is to not use the cases but I need the space.

The suspension is your best mod to do since you have a passenger and luggage. You can get racetech springs and emulators for a couple hundred bucks US. The rear shock upgrade can be much more expensive. Some people on here have ohlins or penske shocks. The ohlins can be had for around 600 bucks. Another options is to just replace the spring on the shock. Those can be purchased from racetech for about a 100 bucks. I haven't done any of these mods, but my plan is to do the racetech front springs, gold emulators, and maybe the rear spring change as well. There are a lots of threads here about the FZ6 suspension, so take a look around.

Replacing just the springs should give you a huge boost in handling.
I fitted Hyperpro springs to my fz6 and the cornering and overall handling improved a lot.

I put Hyperpro lowering springs into my forks and on the suspension and was very pleased. They were pretty cheap. I did the forks myself, but you need specialist tools to change the shock spring. Also, it's very hard to get the shock off the bike.

Make sure you have your preload setup correctly for the weight to get the best handling on stock. If it goes down loads when you both get on, it's probably too low.

Thanks for ur inputs guys. Will take ur advice. Aft i change the springs, how many clicks should i turn for the rear sus? As of now i think it is at the 2nd hardest settings.
Btw what abt exhaust end can mod? Does it help?
