I have noticed a buzzing sound around 6k. Turns out to be the clutch lever. Just a finger on it and it goes away. Once I realized it was harmless and RPM specific, I haven't been bothered/concerned/annoyed by it anymore. Perhaps that's similar to what you have going on. Here's hoping anyway.
I regularly do head turns for the blindspots, and I agree that the FZ6 stock mirrors are quite functional, but with a helmet on, I can not see directly behind me - especially with the ol' lady on back. Moving from one side of the lane to the other helps some. I don't want to get popped for an...

Still, I bought it (full coverage) so I could ride in Oregon without getting impounded, as well as to protect my investment.
Never a knee. Scraped pegs a couple of times on my Kawi back in the olden days (California Hwy 1). Not on the FZ6 though. Practicing hanging off recently, so it may be awhile before anything scrapes.
