They say 'If your not falling down, you're not having fun'. You might think about getting some riding pants. They fit a little loose and can take the wear and tear, save your jeans. Elbow pads and shin/knee guards are a must too.
Good for you!!! I started doing trails about 2 years ago and it's a blast. All I can tell ya is get some good protective gear. Take some time to get to know the bike. Riding dirt is not like riding in the street. Oh, and have FUN.

Did a nice long 320 mile ride this week-end. Came home a little sore but had a big smile on my face. The ride to work starts the day off right, like a good cup of coffee. Man, this bike does it all. :wav:
Your right about the uninsured but the state is working to fix that. By law, you now have to get insured or you can't register your vehicle. I think DWI is the bigger problem. People with 4-5 DWIs, no license, no insurance and no registration are still on the road. Sorry Botch. No harm...
Bart dude,
I bought a red sports car four years ago and the wife ask me the samething. I told her a motorcycle would be better than a girlfriend because I could bring her home. If this is a mid-life crisis, I love it. :p
