    Question Fork feelings

The tire was on a week or two before I got the seals in to change them. It started after the seal change. Otherwise I good point. Gas compresses different than oil This is why there is a specific amount called for. Too much oil would cause the ride like a jack hammer effect because the...

    Takes a while to start.

I can't say. I had a shop do mine years ago because I didn't know what the issue was then and it was before I thought to seek out forums. The owner told me that many if not all aftermarket pumps still need to be installed into the housing. The housing includes the gauge system, regulator, and I...

    Takes a while to start.

Based on my experience, you may want to start shopping. You may have time and someone else may have a better insight on this. Have a tow contact ready if you keep riding out in the meantime.

Mine started acting up not starting when warm when my fuel pump was going at about 20k miles on my 06. What year and miles is yours at?

    Question Fork feelings

Who knew? Someone here had to. I got out for a run this morning. There was significant improvement, enough so that I will probably pull the forks back off, and check and adjust properly in a straight position. I quote myself: "I don't see 15mm low in both forks causing what I was feeling or...

    Question Fork feelings

I checked the oil level today. It was a bit low reading at about 120mm. I attempted to top it up and added too much, so I attempted to bring it back down. I don't have the forks off the bike right now, but reading at the middle of the level line with the forks at their rake I have it at what the...

    New Bike

Hoping for the best. Don't go too hard right away. Keep in mind whatever it's been through, something can still give. Go gentle on the roads and maybe take it for a performance and stress test (i.e. hard acceleration, braking, potholes, rail crossing, and other bumps) someplace safe, well...

    Question Fork feelings

Car is mostly ok. Tires replaced. Fenders need some work, but alignment is good and it is driveable. Even still passed its inspection. I finally had time to investigate the bike's forks. There is no hint of wheel bearing play, binding or any problem at all with it. No play in the head bearing...

    New Bike

Mind you, the metal was already stressed to get to the position it is in now. Bending it back will cause further fatigue. Any cast metal is already more brittle than its alloys. Just something to keep in mind.

From that angle, it is clearly visible that the left side is twisted. The welder did that good a job on welding cast aluminum, what do you have to loose to attempt a heated bend? It's probably your best bet.

    Question Fork feelings

I think I agree that the cable is most likely, but I'll do the bearing check just to be sure. I don't think that's it though, at least not in actual rolling. I really don't think it will move side to side at all, but the thought has crossed my mind after you mentioned it which is why I...

    Question Fork feelings

Please elaborate. It was not doing this before the work done. While apart, I did re-grease the axle and bearings even though the shop that changed the front tire would have already done so a few weeks ago, theoretically. Torqued the axle and pinch bolt to what the FSM calls for. I don't remember...

    Question Fork feelings

I felt that swim feeling again today. Maybe I should go take a new bike on a test ride just to see.

My very own error code 1!

In other good news, I finally got to my inspection and passed again after new fork seals, cleaning horn terminals, adjusting head bearings after take 1, and after take 2, a new battery. Third time. I'm charmed.

The other two ground wires are for heated hand grips and my SAE wire.

My very own error code 1!

Exactly. That was my initial problem over the winter. I didn't connect it when I was looking into why I kept popping my SAE wire fuse as explained above.

    Question Fork feelings

update with my own insight. All of the work I did was after a new tire was installed by the shop. I thought I had no reason to check the tire pressure, but I did after a good low lean at low speed slipped over a manhole cover. It was my rear tire that slipped, but I checked both and found my...

My very own error code 1!

Actually it wasn't a headache since I bought the new battery. Looking back on the thread, I thought I had mentioned this, but apparently did not. After my actual last post, I don't remember how much longer later exactly, but I think it was within a week, I left it on the charger all night...

    New Bike

Frames can be found on Ebay, Craigslist, Salvage yards that do bike parts and other market places. They average around $400. The material is cast aluminum. While I know aluminum can be welded, I'm not so sure about cast. Good luck there. I'm not a welder. Try an online search. I meant to take a...

Question How fast feels safe to you?

I agree with what Motogiro said, it depends on too many factors. When everyone was staying home, I was on my way back from work and realized I was still doing 65 in a zone where I usually have to slow down to 45 and had a sort of panic when I realized it, but there was maybe 10 vehicles around...
