    Work/Life Balance

60hrs a week makes it hard to have any fun. While I ride the FZ almost every day I don't get to have any fun, on or off the bike. I found myself about 10 miles down some muddy powerlines on the fz thanksgiving day just because I had the day off and I wanted to have some quiet.. I have started...

    Happy Birthday Yamihoe

Thanks everyone!!! I actually missed it this year. Too busy trying to manage 9 monkeys with wrenches to have any fun time anymore lol Blah

FZ1 owner new to FZ6 forum

oh haiii!!! I also kinda went the wrong way, from a R1 to staying with the FZ6, however, I do miss the torque. Its like the Ws6 to the Formula, the Cobra to the GT, the SS to the RS, the ZO6 to the base vette.....the 6 will still FLY, but you (in this case) cant replace the displacement...

2014 Winter mods; Whats in store for your Fizzer?

with 45k I guess I should probably: change the fork oil (never done) Rebuild the calipers (polished and lubed before but not full rebuilt) needs a chain, pretty bad lol at least I put oil in it!! Blah

Looking at FZ6 - Seeking Comfort Advice

nope, minimum. It isnt practical for me to keep full coverage on anything I own. As a mechanic it is cheaper for me to fix anything, should it happen, then to pay the obnoxious insurance prices.

Mods for more aggresive riding position?

If aggressive is what youre after then you should have just paid the extra insurance and gotten a R6, #letthehatefly

Looking at FZ6 - Seeking Comfort Advice

You cant beat the FZ. 43,000 smiles and more every day. I commute on her, ride to Florida, the Dragon, anywhere, anytime. And you cannot beat the insurance, $95 a YEAR for me.

    who else uses Fuely?

the FZ this summer has logged 50.4 at its worst this summer with a rolling average of an estimated 52mpg this summer. Who else uses fuelly? I have logged just over 23k miles on the FZ on Fuelly and have a terrible average of 47mpg overall, (winter, spring, summer, fall) With the Georgia...

How in the heck did you fit 5.9 US gallons into a FZ tank????????????? I rarely get better then 240miles to a tank and thats putting 4.6g in.

    06 Fazer MPG issues

There has to be something dragging or a reason for it being less efficient. I would just replace the air filter anyways and then make sure you don't have a vacuum leak or some varnish around the injectors or the butterflies.... that few miles in 8 years will cause issues.

R1 too much bike for me?

Having owned a R1 I can say they are awesome. Torque down low, POWER up high. It pulled in 6th how my fz pulled in 1st. I got pretty dang good mpg's on it too ~50. I never had to rev it much to get it to do what I wanted and it would GO whenever I wanted. I just needed to be more comfortable on...

    Strange sound from Water pump?!

+1 just change the pump, it is super easy (comparatively speaking) and cheap enough that it wont break the bank to try. Try changing the water pump in a saab or a w6 vw, they SUCKKKKKKK. the FZ is easier then a Ford Mod motor, or a older small block chevy, which both take like 20 min...

Did I screw up my engine?

+1 the oil didnt mess with the motor. I found mine likes a bit over 3qts of the T6 (5w-40) and the rest the Rotella 15w-40. 5w40 seems a tad thin to begin with and the tranny feels iffy but the 15w40 is just too thick. my "special" mix works well in my specific case, I have used it for the last...

    Deer hunting with a FZ

I was going about 50 in 5th and I just had time to get out "aw sh!t" and she was under the front tire.

    Deer hunting with a FZ

I figured the blood on the road may be pushing it but if you can't handle that then go away. However I agree the two halves of the deer are a bit much for a family site.

Zip ties One, lose caliper 0! Whats in your emergency fix it kit?

I would make sure and loctite every bolt you can get to just for safe measure, every one on the calipers, rotors, axles, the bars, the fork clamps, EVERYTHING. On any trip longer then an hour or anywhere outside my normal range: I keep the Yamaha tool kit plus a pair of vise grips (you have...

    Deer hunting with a FZ

not sure if it quite deserves the "hall of shame" but it is an accident none the less. I cut a deer in half on the FZ tonight. (I'll refrain from posting the pic of the deer until an admin posts as I am not sure if the "gore" is acceptable, will post that particular pic conditional upon...

    06 Fazer MPG issues

just for grins, change gas stations. I never get good mpg's when I get gas at a QT or a Marathon. Flashfoods, exxon, and hess all keep my economy up and consistent.
