    Help on Rebuilding Calipers and finding the Yamaha Star shaped socket for the caliper

    For really really stuck pistons (e.g. a bike 30+ years old).... a grease gun, marine grease, and the right fitting (on the brake bleeder) to attach. It's bizarre, but it totally works. I've used a compressor too, but it's a big more dangerous and won't get the really corroded ones. Having...

    Fender Eliminator Kits '09 FZ6 Raven Reccs pls

    I bought some Yamaha LED front/rear blinkers, per @Ohendo who I think got the idea from @FinalImpact (I might have some of this wrong). They were hard to find, seemingly mostly in Europe (ebay), but I really do like the look. Ebay has a set here (rear not front) -...

    Do you ride solo or in groups?

    I got caught in the middle of a bunch of Harley riders one time.... was kinda' funny. Large group of them turning onto a main road that I was on, and b/c of traffic, I ended up with 1/2 in front of me, and 1/2 behind. I rode along until they turned a different route, they didn't really pay me...

    Do you ride solo or in groups?

    I've been riding on my own the past several years (as I got back into motorcycling). I don't have any (existing) friends that ride, which is why I'm usually solo. And typically I'm fine with that, I use it to explore new roads and new areas of the countryside. But sometimes I'd like to ride...

    Merry Christmas to all.

    Happy Holidays, and here-here to 2021 being better (and that's a low bar to clear) It's probably not-good (for the bike), but I went on a short ride today. Can't wait for Spring.

    ebay in Italy

    Colors still (mostly) match, even with the fast/rusty/expensive "Italian" part. It's sure to be good for an extra few HP!

    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~
    Thanks to this forum and the search/history, received and installed a new set of Barkbusters (S1 Storm) on my '05... looking forward to seeing if this (in addition to my heated handgrips) allows me to ride comfortably below 40 deg. F. The thumb was always the problem, you see... sidenote - a...
    Somebody PLEASE talk me out of this.....
    The XSR900 is one of the bikes that I would consider - but maybe not even in lieu of the FZ6, but in addition to (or a mid/late-2000's Triumph Speed Triple). While the FZ6 is definitely a swiss-army knife, I have it set up more for longer over the road travels (side cases, monokey, bar risers...
    ebay in Italy
    You'd think - but no. Bike is an '87 Yamaha FZR1000. Oddly, I can't find the part (seat cowl) in Partzilla - should be here - but cmsnl.com has it, and was maybe more common in Europe (or even not available in US model)? Not sure how Yamaha typically rolled on stuff like this, outta' my depth.
    ebay in Italy
    Just so Scott doesn't ask me about status later ;) I followed @bigborer advice and used one of the parcel-forwarding services to buy this. We shall see how it pans out, but this is by far the closest I've come. It is for this previously-mentioned project (which I've been riding more than...
    ebay in Italy
    Need an item from ebay in Italy. Seller does not ship to the US (and it appears, only shops domestically). I've been unable to find this part anywhere else (unobtanium). Any clever ppl know how to get this purchased and somehow to me? Some sort of in-country proxy-purchaser? Anything...
    Kawasaki Demo Day
    Agreed re: Yamaha, I would not say it is only Kawasaki that has lines I don't always appreciate. I want to like the Tracer, but it has a touch of that as well (IMO) - not to the same degree, and I like the cleaner/smaller lines of the saddle bags. We should start a thread to argue the merits...
    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~

    Without really looking, I found a Wilbers rear shock for my '05, used on Craigslist a short drive away. Sent it off to get rebuilt and check spring (as my heft might be a touch above std.-spring requirements).... now I'm excited to see what that feels like!

    maybe it is just me, but - I dont' find this bike attractive on the outside. Reminds me of something that played a brief scene in the Transformers 2 movie.... just odd angles and corners.

    latest project - '87 FZR1000

    Very kind, thank you. Bad brake dive? Well, it has it, yeah, not sure how to rate it I had drained/re-filled the forks with 10 wt oil, but think I need something a bit more (15 maybe?). I think FinalImpact recommends overfilling slightly...

    latest project - '87 FZR1000

    Just to close this thread out (for now) - it ended up indeed being the fuel pump. I went 'round and 'round, having the bike shut off on me. Using the pump-priming as my guide, I was also swapping in a replacement CDI and fuel-pump relay, just wasn't sure. Even tried a 3rd-party fuel pump, but...
