Not sure it was a brake problem. But I hope it is because this was my first time out on the track after upgrading the front forks with race techs gold valves. If its not the brakes, I'll be bummed.
I have the brake fluid SS lines and will get the pads soon. I'm hoping that's the end of this...
Great advice thanks. Although my wife might not appreciate the nudge toward a track bike. But i do! I have the SS lines ready to install and I'll get some of those pads tonight.
Hey gang,
I went to the track last Monday and my brakes felt terrible. It was all or nothing and they were chattering. I want to know if their is anything I can do to get a more progressive feel.
What are the best pads for the track?
Thanks,
Mike
I have about 25k on my front's and over 2/3 still left. I use the front brakes HARD and still very little wear. I will say however that about 1/2 way through my last track day, I wish I had changed them about 20k miles ago. They were almost useless.
They were weak and chattering. I thought...
I bit the bullet and sent to Racetech in Cali. They seem really busy this week and can't get them back to me until late next week - bummer! But I did "spring" for the cartridge emulators (haha, suspension humor.)
I'll let y'all know how they turn out!
I've used the Sena SMH10 for 2 years now and really dig it. I have it paired to my iPhone 4S and can send emails while riding - not that I recommend making a habit out of that, but riding is the only time when my mind is clear and I come up with great ideas so I email them to myself so I don't...
The Busted Knuckle Garage is a great idea - I wonder if Eric has a fork seal tool. If so, I'd better start brewing because it would take a whole keg of beer to pay off that debt!
Hey gang,
I need new front suspension badly - leaking oil in gobs. It sounds like the RaceTech treatment is the way to go, perhaps with cartridge emulators and new springs.
Does anyone know of a Boston area shop that can do this and you know/trust? I'd like to save on shipping costs and...
Thanks guys. I think I'll just replace the tire and hope for the best.
Nelly, you say you're a metallurgist? I thought you were a fellow nurse?
Edit: oh, mentalurgist - read that wrong.
Woah - blow torch? Laser? Sounds awesome but I was more thinking of a professional repair.
Used ones are a good idea, hadn't thought of that. I'll have to find out how much they go for. And yes, its an 05 in faster blue.
I've had this bent rim for at least a year and never had problems with it, no air leaking or anything else. It's time to change the front tire and I'm wondering if I should bother fixing it while the wheel is off?
Thanks for all the good tips and encouragement. I've done the spark plug change and the oil change before and will continue to do so in the future - I just thought that it would be convenient to have them do it if they were working on it. But for those prices? No thanks!
I got an email back...
Hey gang,
I got this price quote from my local dealer and wanted your input. They are really nice group of guys/gals and I like to try to bring them business whenever I can. I've always done my own maintenance, but this year we now have 2 little boys and free time is not in my vocabulary...
FYI: PashnitMoto is offering a FREE set of rear brake lines if you buy a front set of Galfer brake lines until the end of November. I just got mine -woohoo!
Don't forget to get brake fluid, as well. I searched on here and 1 500mL bottle will do the trick (if you don't spill too much)...
Good morning gents,
I have a question for my British counterparts. Recently, I've been watching a lot of motorcyclenews.com videos on youtube and really enjoying them. They seem to ride more bikes than anyone else and give the same consistent review of each bike with lots of comparisons...
Best.
Jacket.
Ever.
REV'IT! Sirocco Jacket - RevZilla
It's the only one I wear all year here in New England (high of 99, low of 20). It's crazy expensive compared to the el cheapo tourmasters and shift and such, but there is no comparison really. I've crashed in it, it did it's job, and...
This happens to me as well. I think it is because I ride everyday, rain or shine, and lately we've been having a lot more rain. Last Dec, I had to call a locksmith it got so bad - couldn't turn the key at all. It cost $160 for the visit. I think it's best to cover the bike as much as possible to...
I ended up going with the Dowco cover, it's pretty sweet. Just fits over my 2005 FZ6 with a Givi E360 topcase. Highly recommended.
